Job Description - Occupational Health & Safety Advisor

The Aurenne Group is a private company who acquired the historic Mt Ida - Bottle Creek gold field, 80 km west of Menzies in 2019.

Accordingly, we provide our Team with the tools they need to succeed - whether it be ‘new equipment for new projects’, or building an airstrip to facilitate easy site access, or even construction of our new Forest Cabin Village at Mt. Ida which is truly second to none.

Aurenne is currently seeking to engage a suitably qualified and experienced Occupational Health & Safety Advisor to join the team at our Mt Ida Gold Project, on an 8/6 roster. You will possess a minimum Cert IV in Health & Safety with at least 3 years’ experience in a similar role. The primary purpose of the role is to assist the OSH Superintendent to implement, co-ordinate and monitor the site safety management system.

Your duties will include but not limited to:

  • Ensuring work areas are regularly inspected and identified hazards are eliminated or controlled.
  • Ensuring specific responsibilities in the Workplace Health & Safety Act and Aurenne policies are carried out.
  • Providing support to department PSI meetings.
  • Meeting Company expectations in conducting activities on site in terms of meeting legislative obligations and expectations.
  • Assisting Supervisors in the training of employees in hazard and incident prevention.
  • Provide pragmatic advice and solutions to prioritise safety whilst still enabling safe production
  • Ensuring all incidents are reported and investigated according to Company policy and statutory requirements and all recommended corrective actions are completed.
  • Ensuring employees and contractors are adequately inducted in their work area and are aware of all workplace rules and critical procedures applying at Aurenne Group.
  • Undertaking audits in line with the audit schedule.
  • Assisting with injury management and return to work programs.

Qualifications & experience:

  • Cert IV in Work Health & Safety (minimum)
  • First aid and CPR (current)
  • Minimum 3 years in a similar role
  • High level understanding of all relevant legislation affecting the employment and safety of persons in the mining industry.
  • Knowledge and understanding of WA WSH Act, WA MSIR
  • Previous experience in a FIFO site-based role
  • Manual C class drivers’ licence
  • Demonstrated ability to improve safety awareness and compliance.
  • Have strong computer skills including the use of MS Office Suite and incident management systems
  • Demonstrated application of continuous improvement ideas.
  • It is desirable that you have Cert III Mines Emergency Response and/or Cert IV Pre-Hospital Care
