HIA currently has an opportunity for a highly motivated Policy and Compliance Manager to join our Melbourne based team in Burnley, to provide advice and support to HIA members across Victoria and Tasmania and assist in our advocacy efforts in the regions.

What will you be doing?

In your role you will:

  • directly Guide and develop policy debate within HIA’s regional member forums in Victoria and Tasmania;
  • provide policy support and strategic advice to Regional Executive Directors (Vic & Tas) and Contracts and Compliance staff;
  • assist Regional Executive Directors (Vic & Tas) and Contracts and Compliance staff in the delivery of membership services and communications;
  • provide a strong HIA influence in Government policy direction;
  • meet members face to face through the delivery of training and presentations to small and large groups on key business compliance issues; and
  • Support and represent the interests of our members which is a core value of HIA. In this role you may be given opportunities to assist HIA lobby governments and regulators and formulate policy submissions.

Who are you?

The right person for this job should

  • be able to lead a team;
  • be passionate about helping people, enjoy practical problem solving and using your initiative;
  • demonstrate ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and produce results;
  • demonstrate ability to show initiative and identify strategic issues.
  • have excellent verbal and written communication skills;
  • have a good working knowledge of workplace relations law and/ or construction law, and/or strong industry experience (desirable).
