The purpose of the Telecommunications Technical Advisor , is to provide expert telecommunications technical advice to project teams, to ensure the safe and effective project planning, execution and commissioning of Telecommunication assets in the Powerlink high voltage transmission network.

 

Here's how:


⦁ You will deliver expert telecommunications construction advice and recommendations to project managers.
⦁ You will advise Project Managers during development of Project Management Plans with a particular focus on construction planning, staging, inspection and test plans and schedules.
⦁ You will also advise from a construction perspective during development of contract strategies, specifications and tender evaluations. 
⦁ You will utilise your practical problem solving skills to contribute to the effective and efficient resolution of issues. 
⦁ You will ensure that all construction activities are carried out in accordance with Powerlink’s construction standards, policies and practices. 

 

The Telecommunications Technical Advisor may also be required to inspect telecommunication infrastructure works, confirming quality assurance and ensuring compliance with Powerlink’s project delivery standards.

Your expertise

 

⦁ Associate Diploma in Telecommunications/Electrical Engineering or equivalent qualification; or trade qualification in the telecommunications field. 
⦁ Significant relevant experience in the installation, testing and commissioning of telecommunications equipment.
⦁ Demonstrated experience working as a telecommunications technologist, consultant or commissioning technician providing installation and commissioning advice. 
⦁ Demonstrated experience and capability in the effective application of safe systems of work, resulting in safe outcomes and/or performance improvement. 
⦁ Demonstrated specialist knowledge across a number of the following fields, such as: Microwave radio, Fibre optic transmission systems, Power Line carrier equipment. and SDH, PDH and DWDM multiplexing systems. 

 

We’d also love you to have:

 

⦁ Safety Observer – Level 1 Qualification. 
⦁ Authorised Substation Entry Level 1 – ASE01. 
⦁ Queensland General Safety Induction (Construction Industry) Blue Card. 
⦁ Certificate IV in Training and Assessment (TAFE Qld – “TAA40104” or equivalent). 
⦁ Demonstrated experience in the application of project management and construction management techniques. 
⦁ Demonstrated experience in contract management/administration including the application of AS4000 General Conditions of Contract. 
⦁ A detailed understanding of the application of the various telecommunications mediums and network topologies as applied to power system protection and control.
