Ash's @ the Point Cafe in Karumba is looking for staff for the 2023 season - anytime from March onwards - no experience required just a willingness to jump in and learn - with a high work ethic - this is a very busy place through the year - located on the coastline of the Gulf of Carpentaria - we have an excellent track record with staff satisfaction working for us and our season gets underway around March - we do group catering, day to day cafe/store operation and our accommodation as we have 24 rooms to manage - we offer to pay travel from Cairns to Karumba and return - as we look for you to commit and stay a minimum of 8 weeks at least and ideally 4-6 months or more - we have work available right through to October/November and Karumba is a great opportunity to save money for your future travels. Our position helps you qualify for second year visa applications - and we have returning backpacker staff as well which indicates they are more than happy working with us. In recent years we have loved having staff from countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, South Korea, Vietnam, China, Chile, Argentina, Canada, USA and Germany as an example.
The day to day work involves dishwashing, food preparation, customer service, cleaning, accommodation bookings, food service, clearing and cleaning dining tables and area and much more. Promptness and politeness goes without saying and we enjoy a happy work environment.
Our busy cafe/store does everything from breakfasts, burgers, snacks, coffee, shakes and smoothies to our famous Ash's Barramundi and Chips, salads, local prawns, lunches, evening meals and more. Our store also carries a wide range of souvenirs, fishing tackle, essential grocery items and we are an agent for local charter operators and the Cairns to Karumba Bus. During the year we also cater for coach and tour groups with breakfasts, lunches and evening meals as well as 1000's of annual visitors/travelers. With our 24 rooms of accommodation cleaning/housekeeping gives options to interchange with housekeeping duties to have a bit more variety. Minimum 40 hours per week from March to December. We provide shared accommodation - when possible you may have your own bedroom otherwise only sharing with one other maximum - with furniture/linens etc all provided - A/C - WiFi and full cooking facilities.
