Royal Melbourne Hospital - Mental Health Services
Enrolled Nurse to Mental Health Nursing Transition Program
The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH) is one of the largest health providers in the state, delivering a comprehensive range of specialist medical, surgical and mental health services, as well as rehabilitation, aged care, outpatient and community programs.
The Royal Melbourne Hospital Mental Health Services (RMH MHS) deliver quality care across the RMH including acute adult inpatient, eating disorders, neuropsychiatry, community care and community programs.
The RMH MHS provides person-centred, recovery-oriented care, treatment and support through our multi-disciplinary workforce of skilled and dynamic clinicians and Lived and Living Experience (LLE) consumer and carer experts. We are dedicated to providing caring and high-quality specialist community and hospital-based mental health services for adults and older adults who are experiencing or are at risk of developing a serious mental illness.
Our supportive culture is guided by the ‘Melbourne Way,’ putting people first, leading with kindness, and working together to excel as one RMH.
The Enrolled Nurse Transition Program is an integral part of RMH MHS commitment to develop our future workforce. We are currently seeking to recruit enthusiastic Enrolled Nurses (EN), who are either recently qualified or new to working in public mental health, to take part in our Enrolled Nurse Transition to Mental Health Nursing Practice program. The EN transition program offers a professional development pathway that gives Enrolled Nurses a supported transition into Mental Health Nursing and prepares them for ongoing employment opportunities.
If you are an Enrolled Nurse, interested in Mental Health Nursing, are newly qualified or want to move into Mental Health Nursing and are finding it difficult to get an opportunity to work in a Mental Health setting because of lack of experience then this program could be for you. The 12 month structured program provides an excellent opportunity to extend your nursing knowledge in the specialist area of mental health nursing.
You will be supported by the Enrolled Nurse Graduate Coordinator and Enrolled Nurse educators in the clinical settings.
Your new role:
During the program you will be employed in one of our Adult or Older Adult Clinical Services. The program is run over 12 months and includes planned and supported professional development activities that are followed by a period of clinical skill consolidation.
About you:
