Job Description - Toxicologist

Position Objective

The Toxicologist will support sales and operations strategies and objectives by providing technical expertise and advice. The role will work closely with the sales and business account management team to win new business and increase sales to existing customers by providing top-quality technical service before and after a sale.

Key Responsibilities

Core Functions

• Assist the organisation in achieving its strategic and operational objectives.

• Keep up to date with legislative and regulative changes as they impact the business.

• Facilitate sophisticated technical training and education presentations to clients.

• Review all new courses for technical accuracy.

• Handle technical enquiries from customers and staff.

• Improve understanding of drug testing within the business by supporting both the sales and customer service teams with technical advice and guidance and product knowledge.

• Deliver nationally endorsed training packages/accredited courses and/or customised industry courses that meet our clients’ requirements.

• Assist with data collection and collation to deliver consolidated drug and alcohol testing reports.

• Prepare and/or review tailored policies for clients and potential clients within required time frames (no more than 10 business days)

• Perform quality procedures and audits as directed

Key Performance Indicators

• Feedback from internal and external customers meets expectations.

• Laboratory results reviewed and recorded within required timeframes.

• Advice and result interpretation provided to clients within agreed quality and timeframe standards.

• Evidence of support of sales and marketing team with new business acquisition and maintenance of existing business.

Experience, Knowledge and Skills

Essential

• Experience in the provision discipline of toxicology and/or pharmacology.

• Experience in process improvements and technical evaluations.

• Analytical expertise in understanding complex issues and their consequences.

• Experience in delivering training and educational presentations to groups.

• Understanding of relevant drug testing and collection Australian Standards, AS/NZS 4308, AS 4760 and AS 4633 (ISO 15189:2015).

• Sound oral and written communications skills.

• Well-developed problem solving and negotiation skills.

• Commercial acumen.

• Computer literate in Microsoft Office (intermediate level).

• Results driven.

• Strong attention to detail using a methodical and logical approach with sound time management skills.

• Highly ethical and confidential.

Desirable

• Knowledge of legislative requirements including: Work Health & Safety, Privacy, Trade Practices Act.

• Experience in working in business improvement, internal audit and reporting functions.

• Experience in identifying, evaluating and recommending new products.

Qualifications

Essential

• Degree in Science or Applied Science (specialising in chemistry, toxicology, or pharmacology) or Occupational Health.

Desirable

• Post graduate qualification in Business.

• Accredited course in On-Site Drug and Alcohol Testing.

• Certificate IV in Workplace Training and Assessment.
