  • Support the Tasmanian Longitudinal Health Study (TAHS) with data-related tasks, including telephone interviewing and participant recruitment.

About The Role The Allergy and Lung Health Unit (ALHU) at the Centre for Epidemiology and Biostatistics, led by Prof Shyamali Dharmage, is internationally renowned for its research on the epidemiology of allergies, asthma, and COPD. The Casual Assistant will support the Tasmanian Longitudinal Health Study (TAHS) until June 1 2025, with a possibility for extension. This role involves telephone interviewing and recruitment for research, requiring excellent communication and organisational skills, and may include additional administrative tasks related to ALHU projects. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Contacting TAHS Study participants to discuss participation, administer research questionnaires over the phone, and recruit, book and confirm clinic and CT Scan appointments
  • Send and respond to project related emails and mail
  • Data entry into research databases (REDCap, MS PowerApps)
Who We Are Looking For The successful candidate will have excellent oral communication skills, sound computer literacy, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team. They will also demonstrate experience in telephone interviews and study recruitment, along with a strong commitment to maintaining participant privacy and confidentiality. You will also have:
  • Completion of year 12 or equivalent
  • Sound computer literacy
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as being an effective team member;
  • Demonstrated experience in telephone interviews and/or study recruitment’

This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University.
