RoleRangebank Primary School – Lead Teacher: Teaching and LearningOVERVIEWLeading teachers will be highly skilled classroom practitioners and undertake leadership and management roles commensurate with their salary range. The role of leading teachers is to improve the skill, knowledge and performance of the teaching workforce in a school or group of schools and to improve the curriculum program of a school. Typically, leading teachers are responsible for coordinating a number of staff to achieve improvements in teaching and learning which may involve the coordination and professional support of colleagues through modelling, collaborating and coaching and using processes that develop knowledge, practice and professional engagement in others.Leading teachers are expected to lead and manage a significant area or function within the school with a high degree of independence to ensure the effective development, provision and evaluation of the school’s education program. Leading teachers will be expected to make a significant contribution to policy development relating to teaching and learning in the school. A leading teacher has a direct impact and influence on the achievement of the school goals.Leading teachers are usually responsible for the implementation of one or more priorities contained in the school strategic plan.In recognition of the importance of leadership and management combined with exemplary teaching practice for improved student learning outcomes, the key roles of the leading teachers may include but are not limited to:leading and managing the implementation of whole-school improvement initiatives related to the school strategic plan and school prioritiesprovide a child safe environment in accordance with the child safe standardsleading and managing the implementation of whole-school improvement strategies related to curriculum planning and deliveryleading and managing the provision of professional learning and developing individual and team performance and development plans for teaching staff within the priorities of the schoolleading and managing staff performance and development (review of staff)teaching demonstration lessonsleading and managing the development of the school’s assessment and reporting policies and practicesleading and managing the implementation of the school operations and policies related to student welfare and disciplineleading the development of curriculum in a major learning area and participating in curriculum development in other areasresponsibility for general discipline matters beyond the management of classroom teacherscontributing to the overall leadership and management of the schoolcontributing to the development of proposals for school council consideration, anddeveloping and managing the school code of conduct.YOUR ROLE AT RANGEBANKLead the development, implementation and evaluation of key improvement strategies aligned to the school SSP and AIP.With the leadership team develop, implement and embed a whole school approach to teaching literacy and numeracyAs a member of the leadership team, support the development, implementation and embedding of a whole school approach to wellbeing, engagement and inclusion.Lead and support staff with the development, implementation and evaluation of processes, curriculum content and teaching practices related to literacy, numeracy and inclusion, and embedding it within their teaching pedagogyLead and support to staff in developing differentiated curriculum content, processes, products and environments to support the engagement and achievement of all studentsWork with the Learning Specialist to develop, implement and embed a coaching and observation model at Rangebank Primary SchoolLead the middle-leadership teaching and learning team to establish, implement and embed consistent PLC practices across the schoolBuild the leadership capacity and consistency of practice for PLC LeadersLead and oversee the development and delivery of extension programs, and provide support to build staff capacity to cater for high-achieving studentsProvide professional development, coaching, demonstration lessons and mentoring to build staff capacity in all areas of pedagogical practice, but especially in the implementation of the RPS Instructional ModelLead staff to ensure Rangebank PS provides a safe, welcoming and inclusive classroom for all studentsForm part of the management team for at risk cohorts (EAL, ATSI, Equity funded students) and Disability Inclusion studentsWork with the Inclusive Practices Lead Teacher to support staff to implement inclusive education strategies within the classroomManage the budgets and resourcing of teaching and learning programmesYou will report directly to the Assistant Principal for Teaching and Learning and be part of the school improvement team and the school leadership team (teaching and learning).Other duties as directed by the Principal.Who May ApplyTeachers currently registered or eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching and qualified to teach and/or have demonstrated experience in the curriculum area(s) specified for the position.EEO AND OHS CommitmentThe Department of Education is committed to the principles of equal opportunity, and diversity and inclusion for all.
