Lecturer, Digital Design

About the Role

The Lecturer is expected to contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School, in disciplines related to their field of expertise. More specifically, the Lecturer is responsible for carrying out teaching activities within Undergraduate, Masters and Graduate Diploma programs and for maintaining and advancing their scholarly, research and/or professional capabilities.

The Lecturer is also expected to actively promote the program by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities. The Lecturer is expected to work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the teaching team, and update colleagues and students on developments in their subject area or specialisation. The Lecturer may be responsible for course coordination.

To be successful in this position, you'll have:

• Demonstrated ability to develop, coordinate and deliver high quality curriculum and program materials at undergraduate and/or post-graduate levels in the field of Digital Media - with specialist knowledge/skills of 3d Design and interactive Digital Environments. Expertise in current industry standard technologies and pipelines such as Maya, Unity and Unreal.



• Demonstrated capacity to work effectively and negotiate sensitively with students, especially on issues related to effective learning.



• Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs which will contribute to existing Discipline and School research areas evidenced by publications, development of new research initiatives, competitive research funding, and industry links.



• Demonstrated ability to supervise higher degree by research candidates.

About the School

The School of Design is a School comprised of the disciplines of Industrial Design, Digital Design (including Animation and Interactive Media) and Communication Design.

The School builds on RMIT's leading national and international reputation in design education by creating a specific focus on emerging areas such as UX and service design, design strategy and virtual and augmented reality.

It comprises approximately 100 academic and 11 professional staff and over 3000 EFT undergraduate and postgraduate students with expectations of growth.
