Job Description - Social Worker - South East Region , Education

About the Role

The Wellbeing Workforce in the South East Region is a growing team passionate about helping students from Prep to Year 12 with their mental health needs. We work with students to connect, engage, and support them to maximise their education outcomes.
The Wellbeing Workforce Social Worker will:

  • Implement strategies to improve student non-attendance, school refusal, and address the personal and academic impacts of suspension and exclusion.
  • Help students and parents/ carers to navigate the welfare systems and access relevant support.
  • Provide a holistic approach in recognising barriers for students, and families, in engaging in education.
  • Provide professional social welfare assessments, interventions, and follow up support.

About You:
To be successful in this position you will require:

  • Tertiary degree in Social Work with AASW registration eligibility.
  • Current Blue Card, or willing to obtain prior to commencement.
  • Driver Licence - or the ability to travel between locations.
  • Declaration of serious discipline history must be disclosed.

  • Burrowes State School (1 FTE) Temporary contract until 13 December 2024.
  • Crestmead State School (1.0 FTE) Permanent.
  • Springwood SHS (0.6 FTE): temporary contract until 13 December 2024

This is a PO2 progression position as per the Role Description. The successful applicant will be appointed to the PO2 classification with eligibility for progression to the PO3 once specific criteria have been met or demonstrated. Please note salary rate shown is reflective of PO2 to PO3 classification range.
