Job Description - Volunteer Coordinator

Position Overview:

As the Volunteer Coordinator at Community Accessability, you will play a vital role in recruiting, training, and retaining a dedicated volunteer workforce to support primarily our Community Transport but for tailored programs across the Aged and Disability teams. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and maintaining high standards of volunteer engagement and satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities:

Volunteer Recruitment and Onboarding:

Develop and implement strategies to attract volunteers from diverse backgrounds, including liaising with local job providers, Centrelink, and volunteer support services. Conduct interviews, process background checks, and ensure all necessary documentation is completed for volunteer onboarding.

Training and Development:

Coordinate and deliver comprehensive training programs for volunteers in line with the needs of our community transport programs.Update and maintain training materials and manuals, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and best practices.

Compliance and Certification Management:

Monitor and maintain compliance with all regulatory requirements, including but not limited to police checks, Working with Children checks, and assisting with the application of NDIS Worker screenings.

Keep accurate records of volunteer certifications and compliance requirements, ensuring timely renewal and adherence to standards.

Volunteer Engagement and Recognition:

Foster a positive and inclusive volunteer culture through regular communication, recognition events, and opportunities for feedback and engagement.

Assist in organising internal events to celebrate and reward the contributions of our volunteers to the community. Maintain records of volunteer activities and achievements, contributing to performance reports as required by management.

Travel to other CA sites is essential in this role.

Key Selection Criteria:

Experience: Demonstrated experience in managing or coordinating volunteers, preferably within a community services or nonprofit organization.

Inclusivity: Ability to promote an inclusive work environment and engage volunteers from diverse backgrounds.

Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with a proactive and positive approach to teamwork.

Computer Literacy: Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office programs and the ability to learn new systems as needed.

Sector Knowledge: Familiarity with aged care, community development, or disability sectors is advantageous.

Driver's License: Possess a current Victorian Driver's License and access to reliable transport.

Compliance: Ability to obtain or possess relevant certifications, including Working with Children Checks, Police Checks and NDIS worker screenings

Legal Right to Work: Eligibility to work in Australia is required for this position.

Confidentiality:

The Volunteer Coordinator is expected to maintain confidentiality regarding sensitive information related to Community Accessability's operations, clients, and volunteers, in accordance with organizational policies and procedures.

Work Health and Safety:

Adherence to Community Accessability's Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures is essential to ensure the safety and well-being of all staff, volunteers, and clients.

Education and Experience:

Relevant tertiary qualifications or industry experience are preferred, with a minimum of 2 to 3 years' experience in a volunteer coordination role. Experience in aged care, disability, or transport sectors is highly regarded.
