MACS and Diversitat have been serving the Geelong community for more than 40 years with a focus on our multicultural communities. As the new entity, Cultura operates across various sites delivering a range of services including residential aged care, home care and aged support services, settlement, training and education, financial counselling and disability support. We also operate a range of social enterprises including The Pulse community radio and various community events including the popular Pako Festa.

Cultura also offers an extremely generous salary packaging benefit, giving staff the opportunity to salary package up to $18,550 per annum of their pre-tax yearly income.

The Role:

The Youth Support Worker assists in the delivery of the Cultura Futsal and Netball Academy (CFNA) and supports Cultura teams participating in local sporting competitions. Participants include young people from 14-24 years from a multicultural background who have recently settled in the Geelong area.

This position will be contracted on a casual basis.

About You:

• Assist program coordinators with administration procedures;
• Engage with young people in a group setting including weekly workshops, training sessions and school holiday activities;
• Transport young people to and from program;
• Provide supervision and support to young people during the program;
• Contribute to an effective team and safe living environment;
• Maintain communication and positive relationships with the young people;
• Take a professional approach to the role including maintaining professional boundaries;
• Work with the Youth Project Worker (Sports and Recreation) and the Senior Practitioner Youth Initiatives, and report any sensitive information disclosed by young people in regards to their safety and wellbeing;
• Diploma in Youth Work, Community Services or similar is desirable and/or relevant experience demonstrating a rapport in working with young people;
• Victorian driver’s licence.
