The Role:

This position cooks with appropriate training who is responsible for cooking of ala carte and banquet menus. Prepare and present with flair, all menu items for a la carte and functions/conference as required. Maintain strict hygiene and safety procedures. Assists the Executive Chef in the preparation of food in the Kitchen area where they are responsible.

The hotels have wonderful staff who truly live Accor’s Heartist culture. This broad role works in conjunction with service teams to ensure quality product and service to guests.

It will be the cook’s responsibility to ensure all tasks are completed accurately and to maintain health and safety standards in the kitchen.

The Candidate:

You will have experience or formal training in cooking & culinary arts including working experience in a star class hotel or a commercial kitchen. Demonstrating an understanding of food preparation, health and safety standard, learning and development will be highly regarded.

An exceptional cook who is flexible, adaptable and thrives in a diverse environment. Ideally it is expected that you will have the capacity to collaborate with all departments of the hotel to ensure customer satisfaction is consistently achieved.

Must have worked in hospitality or customer service industry, demonstrating a passion for providing excellent service. Your ability to manage competing and changing priorities will see you succeed in the role.

Below will be some of the responsibilities and expectations:

  • Prepare and present menu items showing variety and flair, within the cost margins specified by the hotel.
  • Ensure strict stock rotation and minimum wastage. Have stock control procedures implemented and maintained.
  • Prepare and ensures availability of mis en place as required.
  • Ensure adequate supplies are available for expected service.
  • Maintain excellent presentation standards.
  • Check that all cooked and pre-cooked foods are properly stored.
  • Order necessary foods according to proposed business demands. Consult with Executive Chef for guidance and authorization of order.
  • Liaise with Restaurant employees regarding the availability of menu items, additions to the menu and any relevant changes.
  • Keeps all working areas clean and tidy. Ensure all equipment is maintained, serviced and cleaned. Report any problems to the Executive Chef.
  • Be familiar with other areas in the Kitchen so when called upon, assistance can be provided.
  • Assist and liaise with chef on duty as required

This is a Casual position, working on roster basis.
