Job Description - Sales Development Specialist

Sales Development Representative

We’ve had a relatively unique journey getting our Loaded platform to where it is today.

Originally we built a 13 site hospitality group across the country, and ran into all sorts of difficulties using existing systems and processes to run these businesses properly.

We first built Loaded to solve our own problems and after the success this created for us we’ve been thrilled to be able to share it with thousands of our customers, seeing a big difference in the performance of their business and a big boost to the lifestyle they are able to lead.

We now have a strong market leader position in New Zealand, and we’re expanding our presence into bars, pubs, restaurants, and cafes in Australia.

To date, our sales team have predominantly worked with inbound leads in New Zealand. As we move into the Australian market, a lot of our sales activity is shifting towards creating new awareness and momentum through outbound activity (while still serving our inbound flow in a fast, efficient way).

In this role you’ll own the creation of most of our sales pipeline revenue, directly impacting Loaded’s growth and our broader mission of making the hospitality industry more successful.

If it’s a challenge that sounds like you might be up for then read on….

A bit about the work we envisage

As an SDR at Loaded, you’ll be responsible for helping hospitality businesses identify how they could be performing a whole lot better. In turn you’ll drive revenue by nurturing high-quality leads in our sales pipeline. You’ll identify and cultivate new opportunities with businesses who don’t even know we exist, and serve as the first point of contact for potential customers coming to us.

You’ll be laying down a heap of first contact, follow-up and nurture activity, across phone calls, text messages, emails, video messages and social media. You’ll collaborate with your new team to make the way we do things better and better, and - as and where it makes sense to - you’ll step outside of your role to contribute to other teams and our wider company goals.

A bit about you

We’re looking for someone with previous experience in a high-volume sales or customer service role. Someone who has incredibly strong written and verbal communication skills. You should have a proven track record of persistence and resilience, and the ability to pick up the phone a hundred times a day if that’s what it takes to get a result. If you have experience in SaaS sales, or an understanding of hospitality management software or the workings of that industry, that’s a bonus.

We’re not looking for an order-taking salesperson here - we need someone with energy, focus, determination, and confidence. Someone who will always find a way to deliver on their target, and for their team.

Some more info about us

Our head office is based in Queenstown, New Zealand, but we’re growing our customer base in Australia and we’re excited to grow a team there too. We’ve chosen Melbourne to be our hub, so that’s where everyone in our Australian team will need to be based. You’ll mix remote and co-working space time, working alongside our experienced Account Exec (Seb) who has moved from New Zealand to Melbourne after three years at Loaded.

You’ll report directly to Issy Butson, who has been running and growing Sales functions in SaaS startups for over a decade. You’ll have a heap of experience to lean on and learn from, and a small but high-performing sales team to connect with.

Culture is, of course, important to us. We always look for the following in every team member that joins us:

  • Proven persistence in overcoming hard stuff.
  • The curiosity to always be learning and looking around corners.
  • An open mind to hearing others point of view, while always being prepared to put their view forward.
  • Someone the rest of the team feels they can always rely on to follow through.
  • Someone the rest of the team will enjoy spending time with.
  • Someone who thinks customer first and everything else second.

In your cover letter feel free to be informal and tell us why you would actually like to come and join us. Don’t read any blog articles on what we might be looking for, just tell us what you’re thinking and what you’re all about. The less jargon the better. It's important to us that new people joining our team are excited about what they can bring to the table that will help Loaded deliver a great product that gets solid results for our customers so talk a little about that too.

We don’t like to oversell the perks of the job, as we prefer people who genuinely love the satisfaction of the results hard work brings, but we’re a passionate team of people who are building a really great business in a really great industry.

Benefits
The package for the position is $75k - $85k OTE (made up of $65k - $75k base + $10k commission (uncapped) + Super), along with the opportunity to participate in our Employee Share Option Scheme.

We don’t like to oversell the perks of the job, as we prefer people who genuinely love the satisfaction of the results hard work brings, but we’re a passionate team of people who are building a really great business in a wonderful industry.
