Job Description - Associate Nurse Unit Manager

Part-time, fixed term until June 2025 (32 hours per week)

About the Role


The Associate Nurse Unit Manager, in the absence of the Nurse Unit Manager, will administer and manage the professional and operational resources of the unit. The Associate Nurse Unit Manager, under the direction of the Nurse Unit Manager, will be responsible for providing mentoring and leadership to the Nursing Team.


The Associate Nurse Unit Manager will support and assist the Nurse Unit Manager in achieving specific Key Performance Indicators as developed for the unit.

Support the NUM with the daily running of the ward including bed management, staff management and attending relevant meetings

Implement and support organisational change as directed by the Nurse Unit Manager

Demonstrate an understanding of unit targets and how they can be achieved

Participate in quality activities and coordinates allocated National Standards

Provide clinical direction and acts as a resource person to all nursing staff

Classifications for this position will range between YW11 - YW12 ( $106,834.00 - $110,432.10 per annum pro rata).

Your Contribution

Degree in general nursing which meets the registration requirements of the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia

Current Nursing AHPRA Registration

Minimum 3 years’ experience in Haematology Oncology nursing

Advanced clinical nursing skills

Leadership qualities with proven ability to direct, enthuse and encourage a multidisciplinary team

Current National criminal history check, or willing to obtain

6 West is a 19 bed unit comprising acute Haematology and Oncology beds. 6 West upholds strong values of providing high quality care to our patients and excellent communication between all health professionals from all disciplines. All staff on 6West are required to actively participate in their own professional development and self-directed learning in order to maintain high quality clinical skills and knowledge.

With blood cancers such as multiple myeloma, leukaemia and lymphoma

Undergoing stem cell transplants

Undergoing clinical trials for blood cancers

With solid tumours
