About the Role

We’re looking for an experienced writer and editor to join our organisation. Working closely with our Evaluation & Advisory and Corporate services teams, you will play a pivotal role in creating, reviewing and revising content for tender submissions, project reports, policy, process and procedure documents, emails, and our website.

As part of the team you’ll:

  • edit and proofread documents to maximise coherence and flow, ensure content is error-free, and conforms with the Australian Government Style Manual and project requirements
  • ensure documents meet accessibility guidelines, and assist writers with remediation when required
  • write clear and engaging content for a range of audiences, including government stakeholders, health professionals, AHA staff and the general public
  • provide constructive feedback and guidance to writers, to help them refine their writing and improve its impact
  • design attractive and accessible documents in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel
  • create high-quality infographics
  • identify opportunities to improve processes for document authoring, review and online publication

You'll have the opportunity to work in our Melbourne office with the team for a minimum one day per week and the balance from home.

About You

You’re a keen writer, editor or communications professional with experience in government, consulting or research, ideally in the health or social sciences. You have:

  • Exceptional written communication skills, including the ability to write engaging content for a variety of audiences.
  • Excellent editing skills, including proficiency in substantive editing, copyediting and proofreading.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word styles.
  • Familiarity with Mendeley or other citation software.
  • Effective time management skills to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines consistently.
  • The ability to work productively and collaboratively in a fast-paced team environment.
  • Experience applying the Australian Government Style Manual and Web Content Accessibility Guidelines to professional writing.
  • A strong commitment to detail, accuracy and exceeding our clients’ expectations.
  • Ability to translate complex data and ideas into effective visuals (diagrams, graphs, flowcharts and infographics) (desirable).
