Job Description - Family Nurse

Summary:

The Family Nurse is responsible for providing comprehensive healthcare services to individuals and families across all age groups and backgrounds. This role requires a strong commitment to patient care, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct thorough assessments of patients' health conditions, including physical, emotional, and social aspects.
  • Develop and implement personalised care plans for individuals and families, considering their unique needs and preferences.
  • Administer medications, treatments, and vaccinations as prescribed, ensuring accurate documentation and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Educate patients and their families on health promotion, disease prevention, and self-care techniques.
  • Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate and manage patient care.
  • Monitor and evaluate patients' progress, making necessary adjustments to care plans as required.
  • Provide emotional support and counselling to patients and families during challenging times.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records, ensuring confidentiality and compliance with legal and ethical standards.
  • Stay updated on the latest advancements in healthcare practices and technologies through continuous professional development.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) or equivalent; Master's degree in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
  • Valid nursing license and registration in the relevant jurisdiction.
  • Proven experience in providing comprehensive healthcare services to individuals and families.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, disease processes, and treatment modalities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to empathize and build rapport with patients and their families.
  • Proficiency in using electronic medical record systems and other healthcare technologies.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment, prioritising tasks and managing time efficiently.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and adhering to ethical standards.
  • Willingness to collaborate and contribute to a multidisciplinary healthcare team.
