About The Role
The Finance Controller is responsible for managing all financial activities of the organisation, ensuring compliance with regulations, maintaining accurate financial records, and providing strategic financial guidance to senior management. This role involves overseeing budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting, and analysis, as well as managing financial risks and optimising financial processes to drive efficiency and profitability.
You will be responsible for:
- Develop, implement, and manage financial planning processes including budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis
- Provide insights and recommendations to senior management based on financial analysis and forecasts
- Prepare and analyse annual and monthly financial statements, reports, and metrics for internal and external stakeholders
- Provide financial reporting and submissions as required by funding bodies, government agencies, and other external organisations
- Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and internal controls to ensure compliance with regulations and best practices
- Monitor cash flow projections and manage cash flow to optimise liquidity and support operational needs
- Implement strategies to mitigate cash flow risks and optimise working capital management
- Oversee all accounting functions including but not limited to payroll coordination in relation to rostering, time recording, debtor management and overall accurate recording and reporting of financial information
- Develop budgets, service pricing and annual work plans
- Identify financial risks and develop strategies to mitigate them, including currency risk, interest rate risk, and credit risk
- Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure the integrity of financial transactions
- Oversee financial systems and processes, identifying opportunities for automation and improvement
- Implement best practices in financial management and reporting to enhance efficiency and accuracy
- Provide leadership and guidance to the team
- Inspire, motivate, and align the team in delivering to the highest levels of service. Actively demonstrate a ‘leader as coach’ mindset, building capacity and capability within the team
- Set KPIs for teams and individual staff members. Be informed and ensure employees are engaged in internal communication
About You
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred
- At least 5 years’ experience in financial management roles, preferably in a managerial capacity
- Professional certification such as CPA, CFA, or CMA highly desirable
- Strong understanding of financial principles, practices, and regulations
- Highly developed organisational skills, including the ability to prioritise, set realistic goals and meet deadlines
- Strong organisational skills, the capacity to successfully manage competing priorities, maintain attention to detail and meet deadlines
- The right to work unrestricted in Australia (evidence will be required)
- A current National Police Records check, dated no later than 3 months from application (or willing to apply for one)
- Working with Children Check (or willing to apply for one)
- NDIS Workers Screening Check (or willing to apply for one)
- Minimum 2 doses of the COVID-19 vaccination
