As a radiation therapist you are responsible for the delivery of high quality and efficient radiotherapy treatment and planning simulation within your centre. Maitland GenesisCare shares a team of Radiation Oncologists with Lake Macquarie GenesisCare, and all crafts work to support the larger network.
The key focus of the role is to deliver radiotherapy treatment while also facilitating the team’s ability to backfill into CT and planning as required. As part of a driven multidisciplinary team, you must contribute to building a positive team culture focused on achieving best practice in patient care.
On offer is a permanent full time position.
Efficient and effective provision of radiotherapy treatment delivery
Collaborate with staff from across the Practice to ensure safe and effective service delivery and development
Ensuring correct and safe administration of all radiation therapy CT planning procedures and protocols, and where required, provide backfill support into central planning team.
Execute QA procedures for treatment and planning simulation
Provide clinical leadership and supervision to student and Supervised Practice Radiation Therapists in the unit, by sharing clinical expertise and measuring individual performance
Ensure that all delegated administration and documentation requirements are initiated and completed in a professional and timely manner.
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives as required.
Contribute to the development and ongoing evaluation of techniques and protocols where appropriate.
With support from the Centre & Unit Leaders, is responsible for participation in continued education, research and development practices.
Compliance
You are aware of, trained in and adhere to: GenesisCare policies and procedures, local instructions, clinical protocols and procedures, and Hospital policies and procedures (where co-located and as necessary).
Maintain the integrity of patient and planning data for the team.
Ensure all equipment being used is registered and licenced appropriately.
Assist in the implementation of equipment replacement including but not limited to training, change management, protocols/procedures and resourcing.
Ensure team members are appropriately trained, mandatory training records are kept and reports are available for compliance reporting.
Patient Care
Strive to create a quality patient experience.
Gain feedback via the use of regular satisfaction surveys.
Contribute to a patient centred approach to service.
Facilitate patient access to health care services as appropriate (e.g. nursing, radiation oncology etc)
You will be required to develop strong relationships with the following internal parties:
Unit Leaders
Other Radiation Therapists
All Doctors
All local clinical and clerical staff
Key stakeholders and business partners
In addition, you need to develop and maintain strong external relationships with various individuals/agencies/key stakeholders.
Visiting Radiation Oncologists
Hospital teams (where co-located)
Other allied health providers
Advanced technical competence in all areas of radiotherapy, including comprehensive knowledge of contemporary radiotherapy treatment and simulation techniques
Advanced competence using Elekta linear accelerators
Proficient with Monaco planning system
Experience planning stereotactic radiotherapy procedures
Ability to contribute to a high-performance team culture.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and ability to influence without authority, specifically Doctors and other Senior stakeholders.
Strong knowledge of radiotherapy and associated allied healthcare services
Ability to use Microsoft Office software for data analysis and reporting purposes
Minimum bachelor’s degree as relevant
Registration as a Radiation Therapist with AHPRA

Ability to operate and/or be trained in the use of Siemens CT
Able to develop and maintain strong and cooperative working relationships with internal stakeholders
