In this role you will be responsible for ensuring that clinical practice and delivery of care is consistent with RCH and Australian Nursing and Midwifery Board standards. You will provide comprehensive, safe, evidence-based practice to facilitate optimal health outcomes for our patients. This opportunity within the Sugar Glider ward will use your integrated health care knowledge and skills to provide safe and effective care. Your skills and experience: Current registration as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) administered though the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (APHRA) Demonstrated commitment to ongoing personal and professional development, as evidenced in a Continuing Professional Development (CPD) record/Profession al practice Portfolio (PPP) Recent acute paediatric nursing is desirable If this sounds like you, click here to view the position description. About Sugar Glider Ward, Medical Care ward: A specialist medical unit where a multidisciplinary team cares for children and infants with a diverse range of acute and chronic unit has four medical specialties: General Medicine, Respiratory medinie, ENT and Neuri Developmental Disability.Within these disciplines Sugar Glider cares for a variety of clinical conditions such as Bronchiolitis, Croup, Asthma and other respiratory illnesses through to chronic conditions such as Cystic Fibrosis. We also care for children who required chest drain insertion as well as infants and children with feeding difficulties. Children who have had a tracheostomy are cared for on the unit and Sugar Glider is also home to children who require ongoing ventilatory support such as CPAP,BiPAP and full ventilation via tracheostomy. In conjunction with the department of Respiratory Medicine sleep studies are conducted on this unit. The unit staff are friendly, supportive, take pride in their clinical skills, and are committed to family centered care that seeks to minimise the effects of hospitalization. Children whose admissions areprolonged or who have especially complex needs receive a modified primary nursing model of care led by our Nurse Coordinators. Registered Nurses are supported and encouraged to practice autonomously and to participate in ongoing professional development. A unit education program compliments the hospital program and is developed by the Clinical Support Nurses. Sugar Glider staff are comprised of a dedicated team of nurses. Comprehensive orientation is available for new staff on the unit with additional support available for those wishing to make the transition from adult to paediatric nursing.
