A brand new opportunity exists for an experienced and dedicated Perioperative Nurse to lead the Theatre Department on a permanent full-time basis at a private hospital located in Newcastle.
ABOUT THE ROLE
This position is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the management and coordination of the theatre facilities. Your day-to-day responsibilities will focus on patient safety, operational efficiency, and team development.
Key role accountabilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Daily perioperative workforce planning;
- Operational management, in particular allocating nursing staff and resources to meet the department's needs whilst maximising operational efficiency and stakeholder expectations;
- Support the perioperative team and surgeons in the smooth running of lists;
- Be actively involved in the development and implementation of Clinical Governance and Risk Management Plans;
- Develop and maintain effective relationships with VMOs and key stakeholders.
REQUIREMENTS
- Relevant registration with AHPRA;
- At least 5 years of experience working at a senior level within the perioperative area;
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and management skills;
- Advanced problem-solving, analytical, and advisory skills;
- Demonstrated ability to lead accreditation and continuous improvement processes in a healthcare facility;
- Aware of the relevant legislative requirements and governing body reporting responsibilities of hospital/clinical service departments;
- Postgraduate studies in Management / Business are desirable;
- Demonstrated understanding of private health sector funding models is desirable.

It has a Rehabilitation Unit with an experienced team of professionals who work together to assist in a patient's rehabilitation and is one of a few Private Hospitals in the Newcastle & Lake Macquarie area with a Mental Health Unit and Outpatient Mental Health Day Programs.
