The Opportunity

The Queensland Aboriginal and Islander Health Council (QAIHC) is offering an opportunity to join a leadership organisation; in a position where you will work in an inspiring and positive environment that provides sector support, resources and training that will contribute to better Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health outcomes.

Organisation Overview

QAIHC is a non-partisan peak organisation representing 43 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Organisations (ATSICCHOs) across Queensland at both state and national levels. Our members deliver comprehensive and culturally appropriate, world class primary health care services to their communities.

QAIHC was established in 1990. Our vision is the elimination of disparities in health and well-being experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in Queensland. QAIHC contributes to this vision by leading the development of the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Community Controlled Health Sector in Queensland and through the development of evidence based, practical public policy solutions.

QAIHC has three main business divisions:

Policy and Research

Sector Development

Corporate Services;

Corporate Services Overview

The Corporate Services business division of QAIHC provides high level entity-wide administrative and operational support to all of QAIHC. This support includes financial, facility and information and communication technology (ICT) systems and process management. The Corporate Services business division is responsible for human resource support services, procurement and the marketing and communication functions of QAIHC. This entity is the commercial business area of QAIHC. It provides fee-for-service professional financial, human resources and information and communication technology services to a wide range of external customers.

Position Overview

Reporting to the Finance Manager you will provide a full range of financial activities including accounting, budgeting, forecasting, business analysis, systems development, and asset control. This position is responsible for providing finance and management reporting, analysis, implementation of accounting software, and maintenance of strong controls to support QAIHC Members' accounting functions.

What we are looking for

To be considered we are seeking candidates with a minimum of 3+ years in a similar role with a CA/CPA qualification who ideally has experience leading a small finance team. You will have strong report writing capability, exceptional attention to detail and advanced analytical skills. You need to be commercially astute with strong problem-solving and decision-making skills and are self-motivated with the ability to work autonomously. You have sound experience in preparing budgets and financial reports/statements and have familiarity with software implementation.

Pre-requisite Skills and Experience

• 3+ years’ experience in financial control role and/or audit background

• CA/CPA qualified. Bachelor’s degree in finance, Commerce or Business (or other relevant discipline)

• Experience in process and system improvements, including technology change initiatives and financial statements preparation.

• Strong controls awareness, including working with control frameworks and improvements and have the ability to quickly escalate and discuss issues when required.

• Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills, with ability to package information clearly and concisely. Able to liaise with external auditors, tax and corporate advisors.

• Strong business acumen, commercial judgement, and stakeholder management skills.

• People management, including employee development, performance management, workforce planning within the department and day-to-day employee supervision.

• Experience with accounting systems and strong Excel skills

• Experience with Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Navision or WIISE is highly regarded.

• Experience working within the not-for-profit sector – dealing with government funding and acquittal reports (desirable but not essential)
