Job Description - Coach

Position Title:  Inclusion Coach - Noosa Shire Council

Program:  Sport4All 

Location:  Noosa Shire Council 

Employment:  Fixed term 24 months (continuation pending funding) 

Time Fraction: 0.6 EFT (3 days per week) 

Remuneration: $83,197.76 pro rata ($49,918.66 equivalent) + 11% super

About Get Skilled Access

Get Skilled Access (GSA) was founded in 2016 by multiple Wheelchair Tennis Grand Slam Champion, Paralympian, and former Australian of the Year Dylan Alcott AO. Our aspiration is inclusion, choice, and control for all people with disability. At GSA, we aim to create a new generation of disability inclusion that is equitable for all. 

About Sport4All

The Sport4All (S4A) program helps sporting clubs and schools to be more accessible and inclusive for people with disability. The program is being delivered by Get Skilled Access (GSA) under the name Sport4All and funded to partner with local governments across Australia through the Australian Sports Commission.

Get Skilled Access and Noosa Shire Council are searching for the following person: 

  • A person who has disability or lived connection to disability, 
  • Who has a great connection with their community
  • Who is passionate and motivated to build the confidence of community sport clubs and schools to include people with disability in all aspects of sport (playing and non-playing)
  • Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples are strongly encouraged to apply

About the Inclusion Coach 

  • The Inclusion Coach is employed by Noosa Council in partnership with Get Skilled Access. The position sits within Noosa Council’s Sport and Active Lifestyles Team, and will be provided with support from the Get Skilled Access Sport4All Queensland State Manager. 
  • The ‘Inclusion Coach’ must be a person with disability and/or lived connection to disability who has been involved in sport as a player, coach, volunteer, or administrator 
  • The Inclusion Coach will work within Noosa Shire Council to connect local sporting clubs and schools with the Sport4All website and resources, then help them to complete the Sport4All training program. 
  • The Inclusion coach will use their real-life disability experiences and the experiences of their network to build relationships with the clubs and schools which will help them to build the confidence of community sport clubs and schools to include people with disability in all aspects of sport (playing and non-playing) 
  • The Inclusion Coach will be trained in the Sport4All program at the beginning of the role, then other training and development will continue to be offered.

Key Responsibilities 

• Help sporting clubs and schools to connect and build relationships with other relevant organisations to achieve their inclusion goals.

• Check in, assess, and support sports clubs, schools, and organisations to create more inclusive sporting opportunities for people with disability.

• Promote the Sport4All Program and educate community groups about how participating in sports can help people with disability.

• Interact and share with a diverse range of groups within the community, the opportunities for people with disability to participate in all sporting activities.

• Provide council with research and data to support the sporting needs of people with disability within the local community.

• Maintain up to date records and data on clubs, schools and organisations that connect and complete the Sport4All Program, as well as reporting accurate data on people with disability participating in sport within the local community.

• Lead and promote compliance with relevant legislation and organisational policies and procedures, including equity and health & safety and exhibit good practice in relation to same.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience

· Personal attributes that resonate with Noosa Council’s values.

· Have a disability or lived connection to disability with great connection to community 

· Demonstrated experience in community sport as a player, volunteer or administrator.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage across a range of audiences using a range of mediums, to build effective working relationships and networks relevant to the role.

· Ability to connect with grassroots sporting clubs, regional associations, state and national sporting bodies.

· Ability to connect with teachers, school leadership, and other school staff.

· Ability to personally plan your trips and travel around the local community, including to different schools and sporting clubs, centres, grounds or programs etc.

· Will be organised and able to manage administration tasks, and have technology skills including setting meetings, emails, phone calls, recording data etc.

· Understanding and ability to use computer programs to collect and analyse data on Sport4All connections and inclusive sports opportunities within the community.

· Able to manage your time, to rank tasks in order of importance and complete all other responsibilities while also continuing to keep communication connections with schools, sports clubs, organisations, and any people or groups who have an interest or connection to Sport4All.

· Knowledge or understanding of local government practices.

Qualifications, Training and Licences

Essential:

· Equivalent relevant experience in a similar role or within the Leisure, Sport or Recreation Management Field · Minimum of Certificate 3 or Diploma in a Sport and Recreation or other relevant discipline

· Current Senior First Aid

· Positive Notice for Child Related Employment (Blue Card)

Highly desirable:

· Current “C” drivers’ licence
