Job Description - Environmental Scientist/Planner

Environmental Scientist/Planner About UsPentium Water is a fast-growing Perth based consultancy providing informed and strategic advice to help manage our clients’ groundwater, surface water and environmental planning challenges across multiple sectors. Our purpose is to turn water and environmental problems into assets. We are currently seeking an enthusiastic environmental scientist who is looking to add to their current skill set and grow their career by joining our expanding team. To learn more about us, visit The Role We are currently seeking an Environmental Scientist/Planner who has started on their career journey and is looking to expand the skills and knowledge they already have within environmental approvals, environmental impact assessments and due diligence to assist deliver projects across and increasing range of sectors and clients. In addition, having working experience across other disciplines including urban water management reporting, environmental science, site and soil evaluations, environmental investigations for soils, groundwater, and surface water. The role will require you to have at least 1-2 years’ experience. You will join as a proactive and contributing member of our dynamic environmental planning and management team. The team have a current workload which includes; environmental assessments, preparing a variety of management plans and providing environmental planning and approvals advice to client in the land development, infrastructure and resources sectors. Your key responsibilities Supporting a wide variety of environmental approvals for land development, mining, renewable energy and infrastructure sectors. Environmental approvals will cover Commonwealth, State and local government as applicable, Co-ordination of specialist assessments by subconsultants, stakeholder engagement, interfacing across project teams, and documentation. Work collaboratively across multidisciplinary teams to provide project development and delivery advice in relation to environmental risks and opportunities. Provide specialist advice in relation to environmental management, with experience in both Commonwealth and State legislation, policies and guidelines, including Environmental Management Systems and in conducting environmental risk assessments. Leverage existing client relationships and build new relationships to support developing a diverse and robust business. Lead and support the development of proposals and bid submissions. This is a Perth based position and may require occasional travel to site as required. About You To be successful in the application for the role you will have the following: A relevant tertiary qualification (e.g. environmental science or biological science); At least 1-2 years of relevant professional experience. The ability to work collaboratively and efficiently within a team across diverse projects and tasks; The ability to operate with a high degree of autonomy to prioritise and deliver tasks Strong written and oral communication skills; Strong report writing skills; Competent in Microsoft Office packages Ideally, you will also have some experience/exposure in the following areas: Demonstrate experience in managing and delivering projects on time, on budget and to a high level of technical quality Experience in the preparation of environmental assessment, environmental review, scoping documents, referrals, environmental risk assessments, wetland and foreshore management plans etc. GIS experience desirable (we currently use QGIS) Other Details Pentium Water offers friendly and flexible working conditions within a well-appointed office located in West Perth.
