Background:

Jabiru is a local, social for purpose, not-for-profit organisation with over 35 years of history in Queensland, partnering with children, young people, and families by creating safe places and relationships that connect people, resources, ideas, and communities. Our purpose is to support children, young people and families to thrive.

With 20 outside school hours care (OSHC) services, we focus on providing children with places of belonging, where everyone feels safe, and where our program of play-based experiences and recreational activities is wonderfully rich and diverse. We also have a Communities team that runs various Early Years programmes via government funding.

About the role:

Reporting directly to the CEO, you will oversee the financial management functions, ensuring compliance and crafting financial strategies for our organisation dedicated to serving the community. Your role is fundamental in delivering precise, timely, and insightful financial data, modeling, and analysis to facilitate strategic decision-making across all facets of our operations. You'll collaborate closely with senior leadership to cultivate a culture of business partnership, aligning with our core vision.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement, and steer the strategic vision of the finance function to drive growth and optimization.
  • Provide the executive management team and the Board with accurate and timely management information, covering budgets, financial performance, economic evaluations, and overall financial analysis.

  • Monitor financial performance against key targets set by the organisation.
  • Lead an efficient payroll function, to ensure accuracy in staff payments and compliance with statutory and Enterprise Agreement requirements.
  • Offer support and guidance to ensure comprehensive documentation and adherence to contractual, legal, and financial obligations.
  • Drive business improvements through process and technology reviews, potentially leading the development and implementation of business cases, requirement specifications, procurement, and deployment.
  • Foster and lead your team, enhancing employee engagement and empowerment within the function.

About you:

You possess advanced technical accounting skills, commercial acumen, and a proven ability to manage intricate stakeholder relationships. Your confidence and credibility enable you to effectively engage with Board members, senior executives, and operational stakeholders.

In addition, you will have a bachelor's degree in finance or accounting and hold CPA or CA certification. Experiencing working within not-for-profit sector would be highly advantageous.

Benefits
