About the Role

As a Senior Associate in our dynamic construction litigation team, you will play a pivotal role in managing and leading various litigation cases, primarily focusing on disputes arising in the Queensland building industry. This includes a wide array of matters such as commercial building disputes, development, infrastructure projects, engineering issues, residential building conflicts, and insolvency disputes.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee and conduct the day-to-day management of litigation cases in Queensland state Courts and Tribunals.
  2. Provide leadership and direction to a team of junior solicitors, fostering a collaborative and productive work environment.
  3. Collaborate closely with the Partner to ensure strategic litigation planning and execution.
  4. Engage in active mentoring and development of junior team members, enhancing their professional growth and ensuring high-quality legal service.
  5. Lead trial preparations and represent clients effectively in court, ensuring the excellent presentation and argumentation of cases.
  6. Participate in business development activities, helping to expand the firm's client base and strengthen existing relationships.

About You

The ideal candidate for this role is a motivated and seasoned litigator with a minimum of five years of post-qualification experience. The ideal candidate will have significant experience within construction law. You should have a proven track record of successfully handling complex litigation cases and possess strong analytical and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications and Skills:

  1. A qualified lawyer with at least five years of litigation experience, ideally within the construction sector.
  2. Strong leadership capabilities with experience in managing and training junior legal staff.
  3. Excellent communication and advocacy skills, with a talent for clear, persuasive arguments both in writing and verbally.
  4. Demonstrated ability to handle important and complex legal challenges with professionalism and composure.
  5. A commitment to ongoing personal and professional development.
