Job Description - Automation Engineer

About The Role We currently have a new and exciting opportunity to join our Logistics team at our state of the art Distribution Centre in Truganina! This is a fantastic opportunity for a recent graduate with strong analytical skills to make a real contribution to our business outcomes. You'll work closely with the Operations, Planning and Engineering Team, to optimise the efficiency and output of the Goods-To-Person (GTP) infrastructure. This role will involve working with equipment and process operating staff to support the preventative maintenance across the GTP and supporting automation platforms, with a key focus on uptime and weekday servicing. Key responsibilities include:
  • Analysing data to understand and explain reasons for GTP performance;
  • Collaborating with the Planning and Operations team in order to most effectively plan GTP, and supporting equipment and process operating staff across the warehouse;
  • Providing feedback into the DC Planning team to help effectively run the equipment to optimal performance and within our operating timeframes;
  • Developing GTP procedures to ensure the GTP infrastructure remains at high efficiency setting;
  • Working with system parameters and operational data to model and implement strategies to maximise output and drive excellent delivery of target goods predictable lead time and lowest cost to serve;
  • Assist in the identification of process improvements and cost saving initiatives around GTP operations;
  • Liaising with 3rd party machinery providers;
  • All GTP operations across the DC operations and future pouch operations and will also be familiar with technological components of all the infrastructure across the DC.
Essential to your success: We are looking for someone who is naturally curious, has strong analytical skills and enjoys problem solving and looking for the root cause. You'll ideally:
  • Hold a minimum Diploma or equivalent; or a tertiary qualification in Engineering – Mechanical or Manufacturing engineering discipline preferred (Desirable)
  • Are technically savvy
  • Have some experience in team leading
  • Confident communicator who can effectively interact with people at different levels
