Bay Leader - Oyster Farm - Cambridge or Dunalley

Tasmanian Oyster Co is committed to being the leader in sustainable oyster production, striving for best practice and continuous improvement in the management of the environment in which we operate.

Due to growth, we are implementing a new structure and we have two newly-created positions of Bay Leaders to fill. One of these will be based at our Pittwater farm (Cambridge) and one at our Boomer Bay farm (Dunalley).

The role

The Bay Leaders will be responsible for coordinating with the Team Leaders at their site to ensure smooth workflow and task completion, developing stock grading schedules, monitoring team performance and productivity, maintaining inventory integrity, recruiting and inducting new employees, ensuring safety protocols are followed, conducting key site meetings, promoting a positive work environment, and managing the site in terms of equipment, maintenance and projects as required.

About you

You don’t need to already have knowledge of oysters, but previous experience in the industry would help. It is important that you have:

• Leadership experience, with the ability to coach and train others as well as intervene as required to build performance and culture.
• An understanding of stock management the ability to develop grading schedules to meet targets and to apply corrective action as things change.
• The ability to understand required quality standards and the processes involved to meet them.
• Experience with coordinating workflow, resource allocation, and logistics.
• Proactive approach to ensuring a safe working environment, and the ability to monitor and correct unsafe behaviours and promote a strong safety culture.
• Technical competence in MS Office products, specifically Excel, and attention to detail to ensure data integrity.
• Good written communication skills and the ability to write documents and written communications.
• The ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees.
• Coxswains licence or the ability to successfully obtain.
• Drivers licence.
