About the OPPORTUNITY

We have an exciting opportunity for experienced  Logistics Technicians to join our  BIS Strategic Surveillance Business Unit on JORN based at Edinburgh, South Australia.

As a Logistics Technician , reporting into the Supply Support Lead, you will be responsible for coordinating all Warehouse and Logistics transactions including but not limited to receipting, material issuing, reporting, liaising with internal and external stakeholders and ensuring that materials are available for production requirements.

Key responsibilities include (however not limited too):

  • Manage the day to day activities including issuing and receipt of stock, arranging for appropriate packing, labelling and dispatch transportation including courier runs to depots and tracking of freight.
  • Populate monthly stock audits on the Maintenance Management Systems and stocktake items including ChemAlert and Shelf Life items following internal plans and applying the Electronic Supply Chain Manual (ESCM) principles.
  • Manage the Fuel Demands, Receipts and Data Integrity on the Joint Fuels Inventory Management System (JFIMS). Identify discrepancies and maintain fuel records for legislative requirements
  • Ensure inventory is available to meet customer requirements by maintaining sufficient levels of spares and performing stock level analysis.
  • Process and raise purchase requisitions for stock reorders, managing item traceability by maintaining item receipt and conformance documentation.
  • Carry out disposals in accordance with BAE policy and Electronic Supply Chain Manual (ESCM) principles.
  • Assist in the development of maintenance of warehouse and logistics processes and standard operating procedures. Prepare and maintain Project Work Instructions (PWI's) relating to local logistics Activities.
  • Undertake periodic 'Data Integrity' checks within BAE & CoA database systems.
  • Possibility for occasional travel to remote radar sites in order to assist with large projects

About YOU

  • Tertiary qualifications in Procurement, Logistics or Supply Chain (desirable)
  • Demonstrated experience in complex material management environment with a good understanding of goods received processes and supply logistics.
  • Proficient with Material Management Systems such as Oracle MMS or Maximo. 
  • Intermediate MS Office skills, especially in Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Ability to logically process problems through to a satisfactory conclusion
  • Ability to balance conflicting priorities to deliver against customer and business requirements, with appropriate stakeholder management
  • Ability to negotiate with stakeholders in a way which achieves the required project outcomes
  • Ability to use and adapt written and verbal communication skills to suit a variety of different audiences is critical  
  • Sets a good example, even under pressure, through effective personal behaviours
  • Hold a current High Risk Work Licence and experience in the safe operation of a Forklift
  • Ability to obtain and maintain relevant Defence Clearances
