Job Description - Senior Project Manager

About the role:

The Conducted Energy Device (CED) Program, within the Transit & Public Safety Command is responsible for equipping frontline police and Protective Service Officers (PSOs) with CEDs through a state-wide deployment over a five-year period.

Within the CED Program, is the Central Program Team who is responsible for the centralised and strategic coordination of the entire Program encompassing Device Deployment, Training Design and Delivery, Organisational Change and Communications, Infrastructure Upgrades, Information Technology Enhancements and Logistics Management in order to manage the successful implementation of the project scope and deliver outcomes and benefits, supporting Victoria Police's strategic objectives.

The CED Central Program Team is seeking one (1) Senior Project Manager, who will report to the Program Director and will be responsible for leading, managing and coordinating the deliverables within the Device and Deployment Streams.

Your duties will include:

  • Providing ongoing leadership in the management of procurement, design, development, implementation,
  • Provide leadership and direction to a multi-disciplinary team of professional technical and administrative staff to ensure high quality service delivery.
  • Providing high level written and verbal expert and authoritative advice to internal and external stakeholders including other government departments and their associated agencies on technical, commercial, policy and legislative matters relevant to the assigned project.
  • Prepare documentation, including but not limited to high level and detailed programme/project management plans, programme/project schedules and resource plans, status reports and implementation plans aimed at ensuring successful delivery outcomes.
  • Establishing and maintaining effective relationships with key stakeholders (internal and external) to create mutually beneficial partnerships essential to the success of the project.
  • Leading the assigned project transformation/organisational change management activities in support of the successful implementation of project outcomes.
  • Providing project management expertise and supporting and overseeing assigned project team.
  • Managing applicable governance forums and project workgroups.
  • Financial monitoring and project progress and governance reporting.

As the successful applicant, you will have:

  • Proven and highly developed project management skills with capacity to deliver and undertake competing priorities with a high attention to detail
  • Experience in effectively leading a high preforming project team in a diverse, complex and dynamic organisation.
  • Highly developed interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly developed stakeholder management skills.

Requirements and relevant information:

  • One (1) x full-time, fixed term position available until 31/12/2026.
  • Working within the Conducted Energy Device Project, Transit & Public Safety Command located at the Victoria Police Centre, 311 Spencer Street, Docklands
