The Director will oversee operations of the team and manage the finances and human resources for the regional team. You will provide strategic advice and regional intelligence to the manufacturing business unit and the senior executive team and represent and advocate for the Department and its various interests at a high level including state and national forums and with key regional stakeholders to ensure that the government's regional economic development objectives are well understood.
The Role:
• Pursue opportunities, particularly those which require high levels of coordination and collaboration to bring to reality
• Undertake policy and program development to support regional communities and manufacturers to grow
• Nurture and maintain constructive partnerships and networks with industry, state and federal governments
• Lead and manage the delivery of the priority regional services for CQ including:
o Business and supply chain development - to support growth of the economy and key industry sectors
o Fostering relationships and stakeholder engagement - to provide an effective exchange to inform policy/program development and service delivery responses on behalf of Government
o Regional development - establish and grow the department's regional business identify and service culture
o Project facilitation and investment attraction - to pursue and provide case management of opportunities that deliver on the competitive and comparative advantages of regional Queensland
• Deliver on the Manufacturing Hub Delivery Model to support the growth and diversification of regional manufacturers
• Demonstrate commitment to the Department's corporate values and foster an environment of strong customer service, teamwork, open communication, leadership and innovation
• Perform other tasks as required by the Deputy Director-General and Executive Director and team members.
Requirements:
• Position is required to be located in the Central Queensland Region, Mackay, Rockhampton, Gladstone or Wide Bay.
• There are no mandatory requirements for this role however, experience in the use of Aurion, SAP, or any other information system reporting tools would be highly regarded.
• Travel away from the centre may be required. This may involve travel outside of normal office hours and/or overnight accommodation for extended periods. This could also involve work in other Regions.
