About the Role The Deputy Digital Editor will work in the Sydney newsroom to help drive the delivery of breaking news, original stories and high-quality features for ABC audiences online and on social media. You'll work alongside the NSW Digital Editor and a team of digital producers to commission stories, develop ideas, sub-edit/check articles and video and maintain the homepage for New South Wales. The Deputy Digital Editor will work with the newsroom leadership on breaking news, particularly in the evening. You'll also be responsible for workshopping angles and headlines with reporters to refine and enhance stories, delivering the best possible result for the audience. The position will be rostered 12-8pm on weekdays, with very occasional weekend work. About You You're passionate about daily news and enjoy the challenge of working on a breaking story, delivering accurate and clean copy in a fast-paced news environment. You have a deep understanding of the news agenda in Sydney and New South Wales and can use that to identify the strongest angles for the audience. You can demonstrate a solid understanding of digital audience trends, analytics and story-telling formats, along with experience using social media platforms to source and verify content. You will also have: Proven experience in digital sub-editing and production, with accurate and fast sub-editing skills and a sharp eye for headlines, titles and presentation Significant experience in a metro newsroom, ideally in Sydney Advanced understanding of digital news publishing systems, preferably CoreMedia Leadership and communication skills with a focus on teamwork.
