Job Description



As an Experience Designer you will work in collaboration with cross-functional teams to create meaningful, impactful and accessible solutions (that help shape the future of how our Public Sector client serves their customers and supports staff to deliver outstanding services.

You will take a leading role in creating the information architecture and interaction design for a variety of clients and solutions across web, mobile, internal knowledge bases and other interactive channels that are engaging, insightful, and intelligent. In your work you should strive to get the right idea and then get the idea right. To achieve that you’ll work closely with Managers and Directors of experience design to drive the understanding & identification consumer needs, market insights, business cases, technology, and experience opportunities.

You will work across every stage of the experience, from discovery and shaping ideas to prototyping and testing low to high fidelity solutions with a broad range of users. Your Impact

As part of the design team partnering closely with clients, you will:

  • Create mock-ups, prototypes, wireframes, task flows, site maps, jobs to be done frameworks, and more to describe key aspects of a proposed experience and how it reconciles business & user needs with brand considerations. Demonstrate terrific craft in everything you make.
  • Deeply understand a variety of processes and approaches like user-centered design methods, agile development, lean design and responsive experiences.
  • Evaluate and improve complex Information Architectures (IA), focusing on intuitive hierarchy, navigation and content organisation and make evidence-based IA recommendations through user validation techniques.
  • Plan and facilitate well designed stakeholder interviews, workshops and user testing to understand and translate requirements and user needs into designs that resonate.
  • Collaborate well with other experience designers, content designers, visual designers, creative technologists, business consultants, client teams and stakeholders, to provide connected thinking for our clients.
  • Advocate for good user experience principals both internally and with clients. 
  • Demonstrate an analytical and detail-oriented mind-set. We care about the little and big details here. So should you.
  • Excellent verbal and written skills. Design is 99% persuasion. You should be able to win hearts and minds with your words as well as your design.

Qualifications



Your skills & experience

  • At least 5 years prior work as an Experience Design Lead on projects in an agency/ consulting practice or within the public sector. Government experience essential.
  • Prior work on Experience Design projects and hands-on experience in user flows, wireframes, and prototypes in Figma.
  • Assess work for usability, desirability, accessibility and appropriateness for the brand.
  • Strong experience leading IA evaluations and development using treejack, card sorting techniques, engaging with stakeholders on IA requirements.
  • Experience preparing and delivering user testing, focus groups, guerrilla testing, shareholder interviews, client-facing workshops, and other research efforts to determine key success factors for a project.
  • Solid understanding and practical experience in working with Design Systems, with an ability to adhere to established design patterns. 
  • Illustrate a willingness to learn and adapt to new design methodologies, tools, and technologies such as AI tools and Figma plugins. 
  • Strong presentation and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Experience working in cross functional teams on agile projects.
  • Bachelor's or Master’s degree or equivalent experience required in design-related discipline: Interaction, Information or Interface design; Human-Computer Interaction; Design Planning; Graphic Design; Communications; Industrial/Product Design.

Set Yourself Apart With

  • Some experience with GovCMS would be nice to have.
  • Storytelling and the ability to take stakeholders on a journey.
  • Experience working in innovation incubation or cross-departmental teams.
  • You are excited by opportunities to use AI in your workflows or have prior experience designing for AI-enabled experiences and emerging technologies.

Additional Information

  • Must be an Australian Citizen and holds or has the ability to obtain a security clearance.
