Our client is seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Project Development Manager to join their team. This key role involves managing the comprehensive development and execution of wind farm projects, from initial site identification to final commissioning. The successful candidate will have an exemplary track record in delivering wind farms in Australia, demonstrating leadership, strategic planning, and stakeholder engagement skills.


Responsibilities of the Role

  • Project Leadership: Lead the entire lifecycle of wind farm projects, ensuring each phase is completed on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality and safety.

    • Initial Planning: Develop detailed project plans, including timelines, budgets, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
    • Execution Oversight: Monitor and manage the execution phase, ensuring adherence to project plans and resolving any issues that arise.
    • Commissioning: Oversee the final commissioning of wind farms, ensuring all systems are operational and meet performance criteria.
  • Team Management: Assemble, direct, and motivate multidisciplinary teams, including engineers, consultants, and contractors.

    • Resource Allocation: Ensure optimal allocation of resources to achieve project goals.
    • Performance Monitoring: Regularly review team performance, providing guidance and support to ensure project milestones are met.
    • Conflict Resolution: Address and resolve any conflicts or issues within the team to maintain a collaborative and productive working environment.
  • Site Selection and Feasibility: Conduct thorough site selection processes, including land assessment, wind resource analysis, and environmental impact studies.

    • Land Assessment: Evaluate potential sites for suitability based on geological and topographical factors.
    • Wind Resource Analysis: Perform detailed wind resource assessments to determine the feasibility of potential sites.
    • Environmental Studies: Conduct comprehensive environmental impact assessments to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and minimize ecological impact.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Secure all necessary permits and approvals, ensuring full compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.

    • Permit Acquisition: Identify and acquire all required permits for project development.
    • Regulatory Liaison: Serve as the primary liaison with regulatory bodies, ensuring all regulatory requirements are met.
    • Compliance Monitoring: Continuously monitor project activities to ensure ongoing compliance with all regulatory requirements.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including landowners, local communities, and government agencies.

    • Community Relations: Engage with local communities to address concerns and foster support for projects.
    • Government Liaison: Develop and maintain relationships with government officials to facilitate project approvals and support.
    • Stakeholder Communication: Ensure transparent and effective communication with all stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Health, Safety, and Environment: Implement and monitor stringent health, safety, and environmental protocols.

    • Safety Standards: Develop and enforce safety standards to ensure the well-being of all project participants.
    • Environmental Protection: Implement measures to protect the environment and minimize ecological impact.
    • Incident Response: Develop and maintain incident response plans to address any emergencies or safety incidents.
  • Budget and Schedule Management: Develop and manage detailed project budgets and schedules, ensuring projects are delivered on time and within financial constraints.

    • Budget Planning: Create comprehensive budgets, outlining all project costs and financial requirements.
    • Schedule Development: Develop detailed project schedules, outlining all tasks and timelines.
    • Financial Monitoring: Monitor project expenses to ensure adherence to budgets and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential project risks and develop mitigation strategies to ensure project success.

    • Risk Assessment: Conduct thorough risk assessments to identify potential project risks.
    • Mitigation Strategies: Develop and implement strategies to mitigate identified risks.
    • Contingency Planning: Create contingency plans to address unexpected challenges or issues.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track project progress against key performance indicators, reporting regularly to senior management and stakeholders.

    • Progress Reporting: Develop regular progress reports, outlining project status and key achievements.
    • Performance Analysis: Analyse project performance data to identify areas for improvement.
    • Stakeholder Updates: Provide regular updates to stakeholders on project progress and any changes to plans.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all project components meet the highest quality standards, conducting regular inspections and audits.

Qualifications Required
  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, or a related field. A master’s degree or relevant certifications in Project Management or Renewable Energy is highly desirable.
  • Industry Knowledge: Extensive knowledge of the Australian renewable energy market, including regulatory and environmental requirements.
  • Technical Proficiency: Expertise in project management software and tools, with the ability to analyse and interpret complex data.
  • Communication Skills: Exceptional communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to convey complex information clearly and persuasively.
