We are currently seeking Expressions of Interest from local aboriginal persons; as defined in the Western Cape Communities Coexistence Agreement who are interested in Local Aboriginal Person (LAP) traineeships. This position is for Mine Operators to operate haul trucks, rear tippers, water carts and other machinery to conduct surface extraction of bauxite. This position is based at our Andoom Northern Operations Site. Every hour of every shift, your safety and wellbeing is our number one priority. We do the work only if it is safe, and we invest to make sure every member of the team has the quality tools they need to do their job. Duties include: Operating excavating or ripping machines to remove vegetation, overburden and bauxite; Operating front-end loaders and equipment to load trucks for the transport of material to stockpile or processing; Operating long-haul trucks to move bauxite to the dump bridge prior to processing in the beneficiation plant; Operating mobile plant machinery (such as bulldozers, graders, front-end loaders, backhoes and tip-trucks) to create haul roads and stockpiles; and Use radio and information technology to communicate on-the-job. What you’ll bringTo be successfully considered for these opportunities, you must be a local aboriginal person [as defined in the Western Cape Communities Coexistence Agreement]. You will need to have: A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team A full unrestricted C class manual drivers licence (*we are unable to accept applications from those with probationary, suspended or extraordinary licences) Have LAP Status Approval; Be committed to the safety of yourself and the team; Have a high degree of work ethic and self-motivation; and Able to tolerate physically demanding work including shift work. The mine is located on traditional land.
