  The Company

  Robert Half are exclusively engaged with a large Sydney head office organisation with operations through NSW and ACT. This is for their Canberra based business.

  We are looking for an experienced, knowledgeable, self-motivated Accountant or Assistant Accountant stepping up, who has a desire to develop and help managing the existing financial reporting framework to support the strategic decision making within the regional business.

  The Role

  • Reporting into the experienced Financial Controller
  • Performing accounts payable and receivable related functions, including processing bill payments, preparing bank reconciliations, and reviewing invoices and bills
  • Maintaining books and records for various trusts, investment vehicles, real estate properties, and other entities
  • Performing month-end closing, recording journal entries, and reconciliation
  • Preparing monthly financial statements, cash flows, net worth statements, and budgets
  • Responsible for managing cash and liquidity, as well as monitoring account balances
  • Maintaining supporting schedules, workpapers, and electronic and/or paper files
  • Maintaining accounting systems and processes
  • Supporting special projects, administrative, and other financial activities as required

  Your Profile

  • Excellent accounting and organizational skills, with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to adapt to shifting priorities and effectively execute in a fast-paced environment while meeting deadlines
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with complete discretion
  • Excellent communication skills; comfortable interacting and communicating with all levels of the organisation
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively

  Ideally you will have:

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in accounting
  • CA / CPA and public accounting experience highly desired - part qualified or qualified
  • 3+ years' experience in a public accounting firm, family owned business, or corporate
