The Activities Officer (Leisure & Lifestyle) is responsible for delivering engaging, person-centred lifestyle and recreational programs for residents within a residential aged care setting. These programs are designed to enhance residents’ quality of life by supporting their physical, social, emotional, cultural and spiritual wellbeing, while promoting independence and meaningful participation.
This is a fixed-term opportunity (32 hours per week) based at Parkview, Chermside, with the potential to become a permanent part-time position in the future.
Plan, implement and evaluate individual and group leisure and lifestyle programs tailored to residents’ needs, interests and abilities.
Facilitate a variety of activities that provide psychosocial and physical stimulation, including programs for residents living with dementia.
Work collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to support resident care and wellbeing outcomes.
Assist in the development and review of resident lifestyle care plans and document ongoing progress and participation.
Build positive relationships with residents, families and external stakeholders to support engagement and individualised care.
Coordinate and support community engagement activities and events that foster social connection.
Provide leadership, guidance and supervision to volunteers involved in lifestyle programs.
Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety requirements, aged care standards and organisational policies.
Participate in team meetings, quality improvement initiatives and continuous development activities.
Assist with ordering and maintaining program resources within budget.
About You
Demonstrated experience in planning, implementing and evaluating lifestyle or recreational programs, preferably in aged care.
Experience supporting older people, including those living with dementia.
Ability to build strong, respectful relationships with residents, families and team members.
Strong interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrated ability to complete documentation and maintain accurate records.
Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Computer literacy with Microsoft Office and ability to learn new systems.
Sound understanding of workplace health and safety and continuous quality improvement practices.
Desirable
Additional qualifications or experience in dementia care, music, art, exercise or related areas.
First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain).
Experience working with volunteers in a care or community setting.
What makes a difference for us!
Certificate IV in Leisure and Lifestyle or equivalent.
Current NDIS Worker Screening Clearance.
Completion of NDIS Worker Orientation Module (“Quality, Safety and You”).
Proof of vaccination status as required by legislation or WMQ policy.
Current Driver’s Licence and willingness to drive in the course of work.
Relevant probity checks as required by legislation and WMQ policy.
