About the Role:

As the Advisor, Health, Safety and Environment Risk, Governance and Assurance, you will be responsible for developing and implementing HSE Risk, Governance and Assurance activities and improvement initiatives. You will work closely with the HSE Team to shape the organisations’s strategic focus and lead the implementation of initiatives and projects that align and improve HSE performance. You will effectively engage with stakeholders to improve HSE performance by ensuring that risks are identified, prioritised and managed at every level of the organisation.

What you’ll be doing:

  • Ensure that the HSE strategy supports the current and future needs of the organisation and is effectively embedded throughout
  • Support the design, development and facilitation of initiatives that focus on building HSE performance and risk management capability
  • Promote and support improvement of hazard, near miss and incident reporting and identify programs which improve the culture of event reporting
  • Develop and instil a workplace culture of best practice; a focus on continuous improvement and where the health, safety and environment are prioritized
  • Support the design, development and embedding of a HSE risk, governance and assurance program across Operational Business Units, which includes an audit program and a method for the validation and verification of controls and actions
  • Support the incident investigation processes, ensuring continuous improvement in the process and compliance with the policy and that learnings are shared, and actions embedded across the business
  • Drive continuous improvement within the HSE Contractor Management systems and processes, taking into account development of assurance, governance and monitoring compliance
  • Drive the continuous improvement of, and compliance to all aspects of the HSE Management of Change process including document management

About You:

You will have a collaborative style where you can influence outcomes with a variety of stakeholders, including senior management. You will be able to evaluate options and make recommendations based on the business strategy and compliance obligations. Your communication, interpersonal, negotiation, teamwork and analytical skills will see you deliver solution focussed initiatives and projects to manage risk effectively.

What you’ll bring to the table:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Health, Safety or Environment, Engineering or similar
  • ICAM investigations lead investigator is highly desirable
  • Lead auditor qualifications
  • A minimum of 5 years’ experience in high-risk industries within an HSE capacity
  • Experience in the development and continuous improvement of HSE Management Systems, Risk, Compliance and Governance
  • Sound awareness of ISO accreditation requirements
  • A comprehensive understanding of HSE legislative frameworks across all jurisdictions and the ability to clearly and concisely communicate legal matters
