This is an opportunity to work on meaningful AI initiatives, from customer-facing experiences to internal AI-powered tools, helping shape how Medibank uses AI to improve health outcomes and experiences at scale. 

The Opportunity 

As an AI Engineer, you'll design, build, deploy and optimise AI solutions using Large Language Models (LLMs), agentic frameworks, retrieval augmented generation (RAG) patterns and cloud-based machine learning platforms. You'll work across the full solution lifecycle, from understanding business challenges through to production deployment and ongoing optimisation.  

Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you'll translate complex problems into practical AI solutions that are scalable, secure, reliable and customer-focused.  

Examples of the work you could be involved in include:

  Building AI-powered assistants that help members better understand and use their cover.

  Developing intelligent solutions that support customer journeys, such as helping members find healthcare providers. 

  
  

• 
  

  Designing and deploying AI applications that improve operational efficiency and business decision-making. 

  
  

• 
  

  Exploring emerging AI technologies and identifying new opportunities to create value across Medibank.   

  
  

What You'll Be Doing 

• 
  

  Designing and building AI solutions leveraging LLMs, agentic AI frameworks, RAG architectures and cloud services. 

  
  

• 
  

  Developing robust, maintainable Python code for AI applications, experimentation and production environments. 

  
  

• 
  

  Supporting the development and optimisation of machine learning and predictive models. 

  
  

• 
  

  Applying MLOps practices to ensure solutions are reliable, scalable and cost effective. 

  
  

• 
  

  Monitoring and improving model performance, quality, usage and operational outcomes. 

  
  

• 
  

  Collaborating with stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into practical solutions. 

  
  

• 
  

  Contributing to the adoption and advancement of AI capabilities across Medibank.  

  
  

About You 

You're naturally curious and passionate about AI, with a desire to stay at the forefront of emerging technologies. You enjoy solving complex problems, experimenting with new approaches, and working collaboratively to deliver meaningful outcomes. 

You'll bring: 

• 
  

  Strong Python engineering and software development experience. 

  
  

• 
  

  Experience working with Large Language Models (LLMs), agentic AI frameworks such as LangChain, and RAG-based solutions. 

  
  

• 
  

  Experience in machine learning, data science, MLOps or a related field. 

  
  

• 
  

  Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure or Google Cloud. 

  
  

• 
  

  Strong communication skills and confidence engaging with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
