The Salvation Army (Salvos) is one of Australia’s largest providers of alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs including withdrawal management, residential and non-residential rehabilitation, and harm reduction programs. Salvos services go beyond addressing the core issues and challenges associated with problematic substance abuse and provide participants a place of hope, compassion, and dignity to recover safely. 

About the role 

As an Alcohol and Other Drug Practitioner, this is your opportunity to support individuals with substance use issues through evidence-based case management, ensuring coordinated, holistic care across AOD and non-AOD services, and working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality support. 

Reporting to the Senior Alcohol and Other Drug Practitioner, this is a permanent full-time role, located in Bendigo, VIC. 

How you will make an impact  

  • Implement comprehensive, trauma-informed and client-centred case management including assessment, planning, monitoring and review. 

  • Use validated screening tools to identify co-occurring issues, deliver evidence-based therapeutic interventions and facilitate referrals to specialised services as . 

  • Provide coordinated, holistic care through active liaison, advocacy and collaboration with external agencies to support positive client outcomes. 

  • Support clients to develop individualised goals that are documented, regularly reviewed and used to provide constructive feedback and progress monitoring. 

  • Maintain accurate client records, facilitate bio-psycho-social education groups, identify and report risks and incidents, and participate in training, supervision, on-call and other duties to support safe and effective service delivery. 

What you will bring 

  • Degree qualification in social work, psychology, addiction counselling or relevant tertiary qualification. Minimum Diploma level in relevant field 

  • Certificate IV (or equivalent) in the application of AOD interventions or the four competencies (AOD Skillset)  to work within the AOD Sector. 

  • A current VIC Drivers Licence and employee Working with Children’s Check. 

  • First Aid (Level 2) or willingness to obtain.

Compensation is in accordance withSocial, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Award Level 5
