ABOUT US

The Salvation Army is a Christian movement and one of Australia's largest and most-loved charities.  We believe in doing good that transforms lives and futures for the better.  It is this belief which drives us to find new ways and places where we can make a difference. From times of personal crisis to moments of national grief, we are always here — providing support, safety, community, and opportunity.

Why this role matters

The Salvation Army delivers specialist family violence responses that prioritise the safety, dignity and empowerment of women and children while holding people who use violence accountable. The Alexis Family Violence Response Model (AFVRM) is a jointly designed initiative between The Salvation Army and Victoria Police, providing an integrated, riskinformed, wholeoffamily response to highrisk family violence. This role is critical in ensuring safe, highquality, evidenceinformed practice across the NorthWest region.

About the role

As the Alexis NorthWest Team Leader, this is your opportunity to provide operational leadership, clinical supervision, and practice oversight for a multidisciplinary team delivering the Alexis Family Violence Response Model. You will guide practitioners working with both victim survivors (VS) and persons using violence (PUV), ensuring timely, riskinformed responses and strong collaboration with the Family Violence Investigation Unit (FVIU) and sector partners.

Reporting to the Senior Manager – Integrated Men’s Services, this is fixed-term full-time position, contracted for 12 months, based onsite in Sunshine, VIC.

Conditions

Compensation is in accordance with the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award (SCHADS) Level 7.

How you will make an impact

  • Lead service delivery by overseeing daytoday AFVRM operations, ensuring inclusive, accessible and responsive services for highrisk clients.

  • Ensure evidencebased practice through robust risk assessment, risk management, safety planning and accountabilityfocused interventions.

  • Provide team leadership & supervision including coaching, reflective practice, performance management and practitioner capability development.

  • Manage risk, safety & quality by monitoring service risks, overseeing incident responses, and driving continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Strengthen partnerships through collaboration with Police, Courts, Child Protection, housing, health and community organisations to support integrated pathways.

What you will bring

  • Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, Psychology or equivalent, aligned with Mandatory Minimum Qualifications for Specialist Family Violence Practitioners.

  • Demonstrated experience leading frontline family violence services, including supervision and operational management.

  • Specialist family violence practice capability, including risk assessment, risk management, safety planning, and interventions with both VS and PUV.

  • Strong liaison, negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills across multiple service systems.

  • Experience working with trauma, complex risk, and highpressure environments.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and client management systems.

  • A current Working With Children Check (Employee)

  • A current Victorian Driver’s Licence.

What we offer

Eligible employees can access a meaningful and supportive employment experience, including:

  • Salary packaging up to $15,900 taxfree + $2,650 meal entertainment benefit.

  • Generous paid parental leave and purchased leave options.

  • Flexible working arrangements where applicable.

  • Access to EAP, wellbeing initiatives, and Fitness Passport.

  • Aboriginal & Torres Strait Islander supports including Burra Burra Network, Cultural Events, and Sorry Business & Ceremonial Leave (up to 10 days).

  • Ongoing training and development opportunities.

  • A purposedriven career that creates meaningful and sustainable social impact.

How to apply

If you’re passionate about making a difference and ready to join a team dedicated to creating positive change, please submit your resume and cover letter detailing your alignment with the requirements of the role. Together, we can build a safer and more empowered future for women and children.

Applications will close as soon as a suitable candidate is secured.

The Salvation Army is an Equal Opportunity Employer who provides an inclusive work environment and embraces the diverse talent of its people. We value people of all cultures, languages, capacities, sexual orientations, gender identities and/or expressions.
