About the role

We are looking for an organised, approachable and people-focused Allied Health Intake Worker to join our Allied Health team for a 12-month maternity leave replacement.

This is an important first point of contact role, supporting clients to understand and access the services that are right for them. You’ll work closely with clinicians, team leaders and other services to coordinate referrals, manage appointments and waitlists, complete initial needs assessments and help clients navigate both NRCH and broader community services.

It’s a varied role that brings together customer service, administration, service coordination and meaningful interaction with people from across our community.

In this role, you will:

• Respond to referrals and enquiries in a timely, welcoming and sensitive way

• Complete initial needs assessments and determine client eligibility for relevant programs and services

• Support clients to navigate internal and external health and community services

• Coordinate appointments, referrals, waitlists and other intake administration

• Work closely with clinicians and managers to support effective service access and reduce wait times

• Maintain accurate and confidential client information and service data

• Provide clients with clear information about appointments, waiting lists, telehealth and other service requirements

• Arrange interpreter and language services where required

• Contribute to service reporting, data monitoring and continuous improvement of intake processes

About you

You’ll be someone who enjoys working with people, can keep track of plenty of moving pieces and understands the importance of making health services feel accessible and easy to navigate.

You will bring:

• Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate warmly and professionally with a diverse range of clients

• Excellent organisation and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise competing tasks

• Clear written and verbal communication skills

• Confidence working with databases, Microsoft Office and other computer-based systems

• Strong attention to detail and an understanding of confidentiality when handling client information

• The ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while also managing your own workload

• An adaptable and respectful approach when working with people across different ages, backgrounds and abilities

Experience in a customer-facing health service role, allied health, counselling or mental health setting will be highly regarded, as will experience with health-sector data management. Qualifications in business administration or a relevant social science field are desirable but not essential.

Speaking a relevant community language would also be an advantage.
