Analytics Consultant

• $124,535.00 per annum + 12% superannuation


• Full time, fixed term opportunity until 31/12/2026


• Wadawurrung/Geelong based role (hybrid – 3 days in office)

About the opportunity

The Analytics Consultant role sits in the team of Performance and Operational Strategy area. This is a key supporting role, reporting to the Principal Consultant. You will work closely with and take guidance from the Principal Consultant and be responsible for delivering the analysis of data from a variety of sources, provision of quantitative analysis, informing the design of statistical models, providing guidance on the interpretation of model outputs, and leading the distillation of subsequent insights into key messages to support the objectives of business stakeholders within Worksafe Victoria.

This role is responsible for the provision of analysis, advice and reporting on performance trends, identifying emerging risk and opportunities relating to treatment, return to work, long tail claims management as well getting involved in projects and initiatives to improve injured worker outcomes. Our objectives include uplifting data literacy, generating insights to ensure WorkSafe has a deep understanding of employer and worker needs, drivers and goals.

Key accountabilities

• Produce and enhance regular insights from statistical analyses that are timely, relevant, useful and accurate.


• Identify opportunities, risks, hotspots and trends to aid understanding of prevention and recovery performance drivers and work closely with clients/manager to determine nature, causes and possible solutions.


• Utilising data visualisation tools to handle large volumes of data, use performance dashboards and efficient analysis tools to identify patterns and trends linked to the performance recovery and prevention measures.


• Contribute to analytics projects and initiatives by providing analytics advice and guidance.


• Utilising data to perform statistical analyses such as regression analysis, classification, and comparisons using statistics software.


• Contribute to development and provision of analytical services including working with stakeholders in other business units to articulate business problems into technical requirements and/or specifications, data driven insights and recommendations.


• Contribute to guidance and advice that allows others to conduct performance measurement and program evaluation and responds to ad hoc requests for statistical analyses and insights.

Skills and experience

• Demonstrated ability to liaise in a professional manner with a range of internal and external clients/stakeholders


• Ability to collect and identify stakeholder requirements for complex information requests and management reporting/dashboards.


• Demonstrated ability to problem solve, undertake effective research and analysis, and produce complex statistical models.


• Ability to present insights statistically, visually, and in easy-to-understand language.


• Demonstrated ability to work both as part of a team and autonomously with limited guidance when required


• Excellent time management, prioritisation and organisational skills, with the ability to estimate and negotiate deadlines


• Keep colleagues and clients informed on progress and status of tasks


• Good knowledge of key data sources


• Programming experience with Python & SQL and/or similar languages (R, SAS, SPSS)


• Experience using data visualisation and reporting tools in day-to-day work (e.g. SAS VA, QlikSense)


• Well-developed statistical, quantitative and/or financial modelling skills

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualification (e.g. Statistics, Business, Computer Science) and relevant experience
