Long-term State Govt temporary assignment for experienced Rural Extension officer. Berrinba location.

Our client is a taskforce formed with the aim to help promote community self-management in dealing with the spread of invasive species within local ecosystems. They are seeking an experienced rural extension officer on a full-time temporary role until the end of June 2026.

As the Rural Extension officer, you will be responsible for travelling throughout the Logan River catchment to help enact the project plan of this department and help promote self-management of this invasive species in local primary producers.

Responsibilities for this role include:

• Planning and undertaking activities that support the communication, engagement and extension with primary producers and other large landholders in Southeast Queensland
• Provision of technical advice to primary producers on the effective implementation of the program, including risk mitigation, surveillance, treatment and reporting.
• Establishment, promotion and organisation of workshops, meetings and engagements with primary producers.
• Effective coordination and tracking of project activities including project deliverables and risks to deliver a number of small, often related projects under a larger project or strategy.
• Prepare documentation and provide support for ordering and distribution of products related to the program. This may include inventory management, developing procurement documents, evaluation and contract management.
• Provide technical support to the operational delivery.

 
To be considered for this exciting role, you will need to bring: 

• A qualification, or relevant experience, in agriculture, natural resource management, stakeholder engagement and communication, particularly with primary producers or rural audiences
• Excellent communication skills and open and transparent negotiation skills.
• Proficiency across the Microsoft Office Suite 
• Police check or eligibility for a police check 
• Knowledge of the CaSES CRM
