Application Engineer - Mining Industry

MCS Consulting is seeking an Application Engineer to bridge between the R&D, product management teams and customers managing initial deployment of new products and solutions in pre-release field trials working with key customers on site. The job scope includes contributing to product requirements definition and providing training to customers and employees.

The Product Domain requires experience with applications software and electronics products including wireless communications for hazardous environments.

You should be able to install software and hardware, be able to write scripts on Linux, debug software installation issues, create dashboards, and write reports in PowerBI, Grafana or similar products.

You will be expected to contribute your expertise to the evolution of the NPI process with a softer handover between R&D and Sales.

This role is based in the Brisbane office and is unsuitable for remote workers.

Travel to sites in Australia and overseas will be required.

Specific Technical Skills and Experience

• Extensive experience deploying and managing Linux and trouble-shooting Linux-based applications.
• Configuring networks for connections to remote servers
• Manage databases (Couchbase, Postgres)
• Windows server experience (nice to have)
• Azure/AWS cloud (nice to have)
• Security SSL, single sign-on ADFS (Key Cloak nice to have)

Education/Credentials

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a Computer Science, Electronic engineering or related subject or Mining Engineering
• A minimum of three years experience as an application engineer working with enterprise level software and hardware solutions preferably for the mining or manufacturing productivity market
• Demonstrable history of product introduction and deployment of commercially successful software and hardware solutions
• Be able to clearly and effectively lead through collaboration and influence the introduction of new products from concept to lifecycle
• Excellent communication skills and the ability to be able to effectively interact with all stakeholders both internal and external both orally and by formal presentation
