Job Description - APS6 Senior Social Media Officer

HorizonOne is proud to be partnering with a federal government agency that delivers a whole-of-nation approach to preparedness, response, and recovery in times of crisis, emergency, and disaster. This agency manages domestic and international issues, which include supply chain disruptions, critical infrastructure outages, biosecurity risks, and widespread cyber-attacks.
 
The Opportunity

This is an opportunity to join the Media and Communications Branch, where you will support the delivery of an agency-wide social media strategy, using your creativity to develop innovative content for a diverse target audience.
  • Utilise your creativity to infuse fresh perspectives into content creation, encouraging widespread adoption of key messaging produced by the agency
  • Craft compelling social media content that seamlessly conveys a narrative
  • Options for s26 permanent or temporary transfers, or a 12-month non-ongoing contract 
The Role
  • Deliver the agencies social media strategy, including the creation of program and campaign specific strategies, including planning, creating, publishing and reporting
  • Collaborate with program areas and communicators across the agency to develop engaging and accessible content for Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube
  • Manage digital communities, moderating and engaging with the audience on behalf of the agency and escalating and managing issues
  • Maintain reporting processes and utilise findings to consistently experiment, test, and improve the delivery of the agency’s social media strategy
  • Research, write/create and edit content for the agency’s social accounts which may include writing blog stories for the website, long form content pieces, creating social graphics and/or collaborating with creative teams both from the agency and partners in other government departments 
The Ideal Person

You will hold a degree or diploma in communications, public relations, marketing or journalism, with experience at the APS6 level or equivalent in state or federal government.
 
You will also have the following: 
  • Exceptional writing skills, attention to detail, and high expectations for quality
  • Experience managing social media channels, providing advice on digital communications to executive staff
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, working effectively under pressure and be comfortable with pivoting priorities
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, coupled with the maturity to engage effectively with diverse internal and external stakeholders from various backgrounds
Salary / Rate
  • Location: Brisbane or Canberra
  • Salary: APS6: $91,305 - $102,606 + 15.4% super
  • Engagement: Permanent or Temporary transfer for APS staff or 12-month non-ongoing contract
  • Flexible working arrangements available
