Assistant Accountant - Retail - Urgent Hire

The Company
Based on the fringe of Melbourne’s CBD, amongst trendy cafes and restaurants our client is a rapidly growing Australian business. A large entrepreneurial group, this role will work across multiple entities which include businesses in retail, wholesale, manufacturing and logistics.
  
  
The Role
This is a very exciting role with broad responsibilities across the business.  You will be responsible for assisting with:

• Month end financial accounts – including preparing & posting journals and assisting with the monthly board package preparation.
• Preparing monthly variance analysis report and contribute to cost centre reviews for enhanced efficiencies.
• Maintaining fixed asset registers and preparing depreciation schedules.
• Balance sheet reconciliations.
• Year-end financial accounts.
• Assisting with Annual Audit.
• Annual Tax Returns.
• Annual budgets.
• Support the Group Management Accountant with group wide stakeholder support on ad-hoc tasks & projects.

  
Successful candidate. 
With a relevant Commerce degree, you may have commenced, or will be looking to commence your CA / CPA studies. You may have had some prior experience working in a commercial environment as an assistant accountant, or may have had a few years experience in practice working in a business services capacity. With well rounded interpersonal skills, you will be capable of building strong working relationships across the business, both within and outside of the finance function. You will be tech savvy, and will ideally have had exposure to a large ERP system.
