Are you an emerging insurance professional with a keen eye for detail and a passion for learning? We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Assistant Underwriter to join our Melbourne Financial Lines team and support our growing Financial Lines portfolio.

About the role:

Reporting to the Senior Underwriter - Financial Lines , you'll play a key role in servicing and retaining our existing Financial Lines portfolio, supporting senior Underwriters, and engaging with brokers to deliver exceptional service. This is a fantastic opportunity to build technical expertise, strengthen broker relationships, and contribute to a high-performing team.

You'll be responsible for managing renewals, assisting with new business opportunities, and ensuring compliance with underwriting guidelines and industry regulations.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and service the existing Financial Lines portfolio alongside senior underwriters
• Provide exceptional customer service to brokers and internal stakeholders
• Conduct regular portfolio reviews to monitor performance and profitability
• Stay informed of industry developments and market trends
• Ensure compliance with legislation, insurer guidelines, and company policies
• Attend industry functions and networking events as required

About You:

• 2+ years' experience within the Insurance industry, ideally in an Underwriting support capacity
• Positive, professional, can-do attitude with a strong sense of accountability
• Excellent customer service skills, including written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and comfortable with IT systems
• Ability to work both autonomously and in a team setting
• Understanding of the Australian insurance market
