Global Institutional Banking Coverage (GIBC or Coverage) leads client origination and relationship management for CBA's Institutional Banking and Markets (IB&M) division. Our purpose is to help clients achieve their strategic objectives through differentiated insight, trusted advice and seamless delivery across the financing and risk management spectrum.

Within Coverage, the Diversified Industries group supports critical sectors powering the real economy. We work closely with product partners across IB&M to deliver capital, liquidity, risk and transaction solutions to Australia's leading corporates.

This Associate Director role is designed to bolster our credit analysis, transaction structuring and execution capability in support of our growth agenda across the Agriculture, Food & Beverage, Retail & Consumer and Industrials sectors.

Do work that matters:

You will support senior Coverage bankers to engage with C-suite and Treasurers to deliver best-in-class client outcomes across full transaction lifecycles - from origination through structuring, credit approval and documentation, to ongoing portfolio management - partnering closely with product, risk and internal stakeholders.

Key elements of the role include:

• Run transactions end-to-end: coordinate internal stakeholders (e.g. Product Partners, Credit Risk, Legal, Operations) and manage approvals, deliverables, timelines and execution risk.
• Lead transaction execution workstreams: produce committee-ready materials underpinned by deep client knowledge, rigorous credit analysis and a clear business case, for senior stakeholders, key committees and governance forums.
• Structure financing solutions: support transaction structuring across IB&M's financing suite, including appropriate terms, covenant frameworks and risk positioning aligned to client needs and risk appetite.
• Sector and product knowledge: bring (or demonstrable ability to develop) a strong understanding of Agriculture, Food & Beverage, Retail & Consumer and Industrials sectors and IB&M products, translating this into better client outcomes and transaction delivery.
• Client engagement and stakeholder management: actively support senior bankers in client meetings and negotiations, building credibility through deal insights, technical capability and problem solving.

We're interested in hearing from people who have:

• Extensive relevant background in institutional / corporate banking coverage, credit risk, leverage finance, structured finance or corporate finance (with a strong credit and structuring component).
• Strong technical skills across industry and company analysis and transaction structuring.
• A solid understanding of institutional banking financing products (and ideally broader IB&M solutions such as trade finance, asset financing, DCM, hedging/risk, and transaction banking) and how they fit differing client needs.
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level storytelling and the ability to influence stakeholders.
• Superior commercial acumen, strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills.
• High personal standards and an ability to deliver under pressure with tight deadlines.
• The ability to quickly develop sector understanding and translate this into better underwriting and structuring outcomes.
