Associate / Senior Associate, Construction

A top-tier commercial law firm is looking for a talented construction lawyer to join its highly regarded Construction, Infrastructure and Projects team in Queensland. The team is known for its depth of expertise and works on some of the most significant construction matters in the State and beyond.

The opportunity

The role covers large-scale projects across transport, social infrastructure, residential, renewables, commercial and industrial sectors. Clients include government, developers, global engineering companies and major head contractors. The team is large and specialist, so the successful candidate will get plenty of mentoring and training from senior practitioners and peers.

Key responsibilities include:

• managing disputes during and after project delivery, including adjudications and expert determinations
  
  


• acting in high-value, complex litigation and arbitration
  
  


• preparing advice, evidence and submissions
  
  


• running litigated matters day to day, including briefing Counsel and technical experts
  
  


• supervising junior lawyers and paralegals (depending on experience)
  
  

About you

• 4+ years’ PAE (Associate to Senior Associate level)
  
  


• project delivery or back-end construction/infrastructure experience is ideal
  
  


• strong litigators with solid civil procedure skills who are looking for a long-term career in construction will also be considered, particularly those from mining, resources or energy
  
  


• the ability to analyse and solve complex legal problems, with excellent technical skills and attention to detail
  
  


• strong organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-moving environment
  
  


• excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to adapt communication to different audiences
  
  


• a collaborative approach, sound judgement with confidential information, and an interest in mentoring junior team members
